Streetwise London Underground Map - The Tube - Laminated London Metro Map - Folding pocket & wallet size metro map for travel Review: Best Way to get around London - This laminated underground map has larger print and holds up better than the free one you can get on the tube. Well worth the money. I rode every line on the underground during my trip there, and although the stations have wonderfully helpful maps and signs posted, this pocket map was very helpful for planning and a gave me a feeling of security, knowing I could always figure out where I was and where I needed to go. Review: A handy map to help you get around.... - Before hubby and I took a trip to London last fall we bought this tube map. We got a bit of a handle on their system before going and found ourselves pretty familiar with the system by the time we took our first trip on the tube. This map is easily packed in purse or pocket which makes it both convenient and very easy to get used to the transit system quickly. I would highly recommend, and good idea with the lamination, in case you will be travelling during those foggy days!

Handy, but use your readers.
Very handy to use for getting around on the Tube. The print is small though, so if you are a baby boomer, use your readers. Laminated and of good quality. Holds up to use and the expected London showers. Travel tip: Check the London Tube website for information on what lines will have shutdowns on the weekends. They are doing extensive refits and repairs on certain lines for the up coming 2012 Olympics. The information changes weekly. AND: Buy an Oyster Card for very much reduced fares on the Tube, as well as all buses and some trains. You can easily buy them at the airport and local Tube stations, newsstands, and money change stands. Just put a certain amount of money on it and recharge it as needed. No need to buy in advance. I kept mine in the corner of an outside pocket of my crossbody travel purse and just held the purse up to the reader and did not have to constantly take it out and put it back. Learn the bus routes from around your hotel, online, before you go and just keep some notes with you! The site is full of route maps you can print also. Every stop has a bus spider map and tells you clearly the routes that those buses take. The drivers are very helpful, as well. It is very easy to use and you get to see everything as you go. Loved it! We traveled even at peak hours and had no issues. MAKE VERY sure that you touch the card to the exit reader on the TUBE as it will drain your card if you don't. On buses, just get off; you do NOT use the reader as it will just charge you for that route.

Invaluable little map
Just came back from London and this laminated map folds into a small credit card size which I kept in my pocket at all times, along with the Oyster card (pre-paid transportation card). It was very helpful in pre-planning the following day's trip and bypassing down stations. Will definitely take it with me the next time I visit London. Fyi, when you arrive in Heathrow Airport, they do have (free) booklets that list popular attractions and the Underground map.

I think it could be more useful if it were slightly larger and a bit tidier
I thought this map was rather handy. I think it could be more useful if it were slightly larger and a bit tidier. All-in-all, I found it to do the job. That said, I based that opinion when I purchased the Paris metro version - big mistake. As a New Yorker, it should have donned on me that the maps provided by the respective MTAs' are generally more than enough. Oh well, live and learn.

Multple uses, not just "where to go"
Though I had a guide book, I purposefully bought the Streetwise map. I have them for Paris and Rome also. They are great for orienting yourself, figuring out the Underground/Bus line interconnects, the parks, the major sites, etc. ...and - you can put it on a bench or a fountain side to sit on, cover your head if it sprinkles, use it as a placemat for a take-away, cover your camera from sun or shower, etc, etc. They are highly useful.

Essential map for London travel
I was going to London for the first time and needed a guide to help me navigate the underground. This was perfect. It was easy to read and fit nicely into my pocket or purse. In just a couple of days I was a pro at traveling by tube (which we do not have where I live)and this guide was part of the reason. Definitely worth purchasing.

Not what expected.
Fairly small type so if you have old eyes like I do almost impossible to read, especially in low light. The map they give out at the stations is just as useful. Additional this map does NOT cover the entire underground system; only the central part of it.
