Highwild Delivers on High Quality Products as Advertised
I bought this set along with one from another competitor that offered two small gong targets with their set to compare which designs and materials worked better. The Highwild products were better on multiple fronts and I'm actually trying to return the other set because they didn't hold up to their claims.First, these hooks (along with several orange AR500 steel targets I bought from Highwild) stood up to close range 9mm (5-15yds) and .223 (15yds) shots without denting or breaking the hooks. The competitor's hooks bent from just the 9mm rounds, so clearly not the "same" AR500 steel that Highwild uses.Highly recommend the Highwild AR500 steel gong targets, they tolerated pistol and rifle rounds with only very minor pitting from the rifle at close ranges. The black competitor targets might have been great for a .22 range, but that's not what they advertised -- and their brackets and hooks were also inferior. The competitor's black targets might as well have been made from recycled aluminum given the crisp, clean holes (.223 @ 15yds) and the pitting (9mm @ 5-15yds), while the Highwild steel held up great on both the targets and the hooks!!Second, the design of these hooks worked with targets that had round and square mounting holes (competitor product hooks were squared not tapered and failed to work for both gong types). The minor downside is that if you have an off-center shot at close range the target may slip off one of the hooks, but that was rare and reasonably well-centered shots elicited the oh so satisfying "flip" over the crossbar you'd expect.Third, because these used stronger steel they're actually less bulky than the competitor's product. So they're easier to work with and store. I keep my target hooks and parts in a standard 30cal plastic ammo box, and these components all fit in perfectly (one ammo box can hold enough parts for 3-4 separate target stands). In terms of the ideal setup, I recommend using standard 3/4" EMT from any hardware store which you can get pre-cut in 5' lengths for the legs (obviously you'll need 4 of them). While you can use the same diameter conduit for the crossbar (which I did this time around), you'll get more height and stability of you buy a 10' length of 1" EMT (it will fill the hole better and yes, it will fit perfectly as I've already tried it) and cut it down to the width you want. I'll be cutting it in half so I have an extra 5' crossbar to use as a replacement when the first one eventually gets shot out. With any of these style target ranges, you'll need a hammer handy if you shoot the EMT pipe to knock down any burrs. I've also done that in the field with a big rock when I didn't feel like walking back to my truck for a hammer. The EMT is pretty soft and you'll be able to smooth out the damage and get the hooks off without much trouble. You could always try some thicker plumbing pipe, but the EMT is so much lighter and cheaper you'll be better off if you shoot your targets and not the pipe.

Great Product, great price.
I wanted a portable stand for large caliber for my range as well as my friends back yard. For the cost, why not give it a try. Works well, portable and easy to use. I cut my conduit all the same length (5') for ease of use. Can hold up to three metal plates. I like it.

Perfect for portable steel targets.
Finally got to the range to give these brackets and the new assembly a try. Worked perfectly and was easy/quick to set up and take down. On the bottom of the legs, I flattened the last 3 inches of tubing and bent the flats at about a 60 degree angle and drilled a hole to accommodate a tent stake in each"foot". These anchors in the legs prevented any rocking movement of the assembly upon the steel target being struck and really made the whole thing very stable. So far this is a big hit for ease of use and flexibility to set up multiple different target frames and only having to buy one set of brackets.

Squared hooks might limit your choice of steel targets
I received my package today (very fast), and the first thing I saw was the big "Made in China" sticker. I actually bought this because I had thought I was purchasing American. That being said, the quality seems solid, I will know more once I use them. The end hooks are squared. This is my first purchase as I set up my steel shooting capabilities, but I have noticed that most gongs have round holes for hanging. It is entirely possible that this is a non-issue. I will not know until I purchase the targets. At this point, I see no reason to gamble on round-holed targets. Maybe someone who has round-holed targets can add their two cents. Highwild offers square holes in their steel targets. I have found other square-hold hanging targets as well, so I have choices. My guess is that they are all made in China. If everything works as expected, I will not mind giving money to US importers, but I think it is important to note these two things. This product is made in China, and it has squared end-hooks.

Simple gear that you can pack to almost any location
Add a couple of 1" pipes and you are shooting at your own set of hangers. Paint them a bright color..they are easier to keep track of.

Durable
I really like these. I took them out to an outdoor range and beat the living hell out of them. We ran 7.62x39mm, 5.56 NATO, pistol rounds and even a 22lr. We hit the these unintentionally at different ranges and they held up. Definitely made setup a breeze. I really enjoyed the easy to use factor of these especially while at an open range with no real cease fire. Will definitely order more and recommend them.
