I would say very high quality acrylic. Fairly heavy for such a small piece. I bought 2. Love them.

If they don’t replace the missing pieces, you can fix it yourself, by ordering the parts (look up suncatcher components—crystals, and jump rings) and simply adding them. In fact, you can buy these strings with the rings and crystals already joined together. Then simply add to the suncatcher at the top.

What kind of Hook is needed to hang this on the ceiling

Any hook will do, as long as it can be guaranteed not to fall off. For the ceiling, it is recommended to have a hook with self-adhesive, one end is glued to the ceiling and the other end is used for hanging. Or even more aesthetically pleasing, you can use the threaded hooks to be nailed directly to the ceiling for hanging
