If you are not using distilled water then expect to periodically soak the filters to remove build-up. I find that works best when they are soaked vertically so use a cereal box shaped plastic storage container.We flip ours every 12 hours.Here is the trick no one seems to mention: the original filters were flimsy but they humidified especially well because their shape blossomed on top to be more conical. These filters are sturdier so do not do that on their own, but you can get that same effect by taking a very wet filter (NOT dry) and gently slightly stretching the upper portion of it to be wider than the base. (This will NOT cause problems with flipping it unless you overdo the stretch; do not go hog wild.) When this is done the fan does not dry out the filter too much so wicking does not stop, and there is a greater area from which moisture can be put into the air by the fan. This trick can not be done with the two part filters that have an added stiff outer layer. (I hope they do not change these filters to have one.)

These are not as good a quality as the name brand but they do the job. A lot depends on your water quality. I find after about 6 weeks I need to change the filter. Its important to flip filter over each time water is added. If the filter gets too dry, I put it in a large bowl and fill with warm water. This helps to extend the life of the filter. I've had no ripping issues nor pink bacteria growth. I use city water that has a touch of hardness in it. I'm sure results would be different if using well water or water processed thru a water softening system.Bottom line: good value for the price and they work.

They fit perfectly in my new humidifier. They do exactly what they are supposed to and it's so nice to not have to spend an absolute fortune on humidifier filters.

I didn't change the filter for over a year and I definitely noticed a major decrease in the effectiveness of the humidifier. The old filter was falling apart and getting moldy. I cleaned everything and replaced with these filters. They work great. Now that I am more aware of the need to change the filter regularly, I will continue using these.
