Good for blocking electric fields, no effect on magnetic fields
My wife and I have strong magnetic fields coming from underneath the floor below our bed, as measured by the Trifield 100XE EMF Meter. This product claims "EMF" (electromagnetic field) protection. EMF is the combination of both electric and magnetic fields. The ADR Mat does block electric fields very effectively, but that wasn't an issue for us, as there is no significant electric field picked up by the Trifield meter near our bed.The ADR Mat has no effect on magnetic fields, so it didn't meet our needs. Even if you keep the mat folded so that there are 10-20 layers of it between a meter and a magnetic field source, is provides zero reduction in the reading. This product should be advertised as "electric field protection" only. I think that using the term EMF implies magnetic field protection (the seller has updated the product description, but still disagrees - see last paragraph below).A note about the seller - ADR ProVita. Customer service & communication was very good - I returned the ADR-Mat and while I did have to pay for return shipping, there was no restocking fee charged because I agreed to buy a product from the seller called GIRON, which does significantly reduce magnetic fields. I was fine with this, because ADR ProVita is the cheapest place online I could find to buy it anyway. I just installed the GIRON, and it reduced the magnetic field on our bed by about 50% or so, which is worth it to me (although note that GIRON is expensive - over $500 shipped to cover a 6x5 foot area of our bed). Here is the seller's note regarding use of the term "EMF":"Here is a little clarification regarding the EMF claim: EMF stands for Electromagnetic fields or frequencies. Electromagnetic (i.e. electric and magnetic) fields which cannot be separated when emitted from a source. This is simply the nature of EMF radiation. The product ADR Mat does not claim that it shields from magnetic fields, but from EMF i.e. electromagnetic fields."
