Oh my Goodness, why didn't I buy this before!
I have a Nespresso machine but I found the milk warmer to be a pain to clean. Whether that be the Aeroccino or the attachment on the side of the machine itself. I also found that the milk was a bit on the cool side. With the lockdown and my inability to visit my favourite coffee shop Neros I thought I would buy this. This has transformed my home made coffee routine and I will no longer be going back to Neros.Pros:1. You can warm the milk, froth the milk or make hot frothy milk. You can also make a hot chocolate from actual a chocolate bar but not tried this yet.2. There are multiple heat settings and I find the highest setting of 65 deg C is more than hot enough for a coffee and I like my coffee hot. Please note if milk is heated above 70 deg C a chemical reaction occurs which removes the sweetness from the milk so you end up with a bitterer coffee. I don't take sugar in coffee so I do not want to remove the sweetness from the Milk.3. It is an Induction heat system so very safe.4. It heats/froths the milk quickly. I turn on the milk maker at the same time I put my first nespresso capsule in. By the time the second capsule has finished the milk is ready to pour into my mug.5. My daughter (she is a barrista) told me the milk is glossy (I hadn't noticed) which is exactly how it is supposed to look. All I can see is that I now enjoy a lovely coffee every morning.6. The stainless steel container is very easy to clean. It is dishwasher safe but to be honest I clean mine by hand immediately after I have poured the contents into my mug. This is one of my better purchases which I will use every day. And whilst it is expensive it means that by making my own delicious coffee instead of going to a coffee shop I am saving £2.40 with every drink (Shop coffee is £3.05 and each Nespresso capsule is approx 30p if one waits for the special offers). So I will have paid for this product within 2 months by the savings I make on not buying coffee from the coffee shop.I will try and remember to update this when I try out the Hot Chocolate.**** UPDATE ****This is one of the best things I have purchased. I use this every day. I rarely go to my favourite coffee shop and can now enjoy more great quality coffees. It is so easy to clean. And it is better for the environment, no more disposable cups (with cov19 one cannot use own cup anymore) and Nespresso recycle their capsules (they provide bags and a courier picks up your bag for recycling when it is full).I have made hot chocolate and whilst I have not sampled the end product myself my eldest daughter and wife said it was just the best. Add the milk as usual and let it warm up and then drop chocolate squares into it and they melt and the milk slowly turns a lovely chocolate colour. You can add more chocolate depending on your taste. From a financial perspective this product has made ma profit already and I can enjoy a great coffee whenever I want. Very very pleased with purchase and would not hesitate in recommending

Not cheap, but omg AMAZING and it’ll pay for itself in months.
Omg, the best milk frother ever. It’s amazing does enough milk for 2 to 4 cups in one go. Soooo easy to clean with no burnt milk residue. Easily as good as Costa or Starbucks milk. Put together with a coffee pod maker and you amazing coffee every time. It’s not cheep but take the fact you won’t ever miss your high street retailer it’ll pay for its self in a couple of months.

Can't describve how good this is but lid storage/ handle lets it down somewhat
I have used a Aeroccino and inissia nespresso machine for some time but he pump in the inissia died and when I replaced the machine with a citiz I decided to upgrade the milk frother. Wading through the options offered by the multitude of similar machines I opted for the severin. I was swayed by the jug capacity and the fact that it could make hot chocolate from scratch. The stainlees steel, heayweight jug is really easy to clean, just run under the hot tap after use and wipe out, no need to disassemble. Milk is superbly frothy with more than enough to scoop out. At full capacity the milk doesn't spill over and is heated to just the right temperature for latte and cappuccino. The only thing I dislike is the spare insert storage arrangement. The unused parts are pressed onto the top of the lid and for the most part stay there. However sometimes they simply won't remain on place and this makes lifting the lid a bit of a chore. The advertising photos show the lid as having a knob, this is in fact part of the insert for hot chocolate mode which becomes easily detachable. Under this is the latte ring which is magnetic and so will not stick onto to the plastic jug lid.Overall, ease of use 9, cleaning 10, design features 7.Compared to the Aeroccino this is a huge step up.

Great until it stopped working after two years
The media could not be loaded. This was a really good milk frother for the first two years and then it started misbehaving. The frother and heated milk had very fine bubbles and was consistent with a range of non-dairy drinks as well as milk. Oat and soya work well. Then after about two years- just as the warranty had expired - it became unreliable. I can still get cold frothed milk but I can heat and froth (or heat and stir). I’ve tried getting a replacement quirl but still have the same problem. So, I ordered a replacement and the even worse news is that the new one has the exact same problem despite being brand new out of the box.Now waiting for Severin to respond to my support query.

Better than Nespresso and Dualities
I used a Nespresso milk brother for years, when it eventually broke I chose the Dualit - definitely better than Nespresso, it stopped working after a couple of months so I traded up to Severin. I usually prefer a Flat White rather than a more frothy coffee. The Severin is able to make those smaller bubbles. It feels well made and is super easy to clean. I love how the jug can be fully submerged and is totally separate to the electrical parts - I'm hoping this will ensure it lasts longer. It's possible to add ingredients whilst it mixes by removing part of the top. This can be used to melt chocolate or add ingredients to a 'bullet proof' coffee.

Rubbish. Doesn't froth milk.
I thought this would do a better, easier and quieter job of frothing milk that my Bodum hand operated frother, and also I wanted the greater volume. The Severin arrived. I followed all the instructions, using semi-skimmed milk. Virtually no froth. It looked great and is super easy to clean. BUT - NO froth the second time either. The third time I followed the manual’s suggestion of cold frothing first before hot frothing for better volume. Still rubbish. And it took twice as long. So it’s gone back for a refund. SO disappointing, and given the mixed reviews on other electric frothers I’ll be staying with the Bodum….
