Great Solution to My Dryer Lint Problems
My husband installed ours this morning, and I am already impressed. When our house was built the dryer was vented up a tube in the wall and out a vent on the roof. My husband didn't like cleaning out the tube, so he vented the dryer out into the garage - but lint seemed to be getting everywhere with the lint catcher he was using. This looks like it will solve the problem, and the installation was really easy. UPDATE We have been using this for a couple weeks now and are very happy with it. The only thing we thing the manufacturer should change is the changeable filter. We experimented with various filters and determined the following after installing the vent and weighting the change your filter door as per the instructions: (1) The changeable filters that comes with the vent are too lightweight and almost impossible to clean. The change your filter door popped up after only 3 loads - with little lint on the filter. (2) I then tried just the metal filter - which never popped up the change your filterdoor - but blew small particles of lint into the garage and all over the car. I had to use a Swiffer duster to clean up the mess. (2) I next tried a 3/4 inch thick washable filter cut from a a/c filter (about the same thickness as the filters that came with the vent) - and while it was easier to clean, the change your filter door popped up after 6 loads - with a moderate amount of lint in the filter. (3) I next tried a 1/4 inch thick washable a/c filter - which was the easiest to clean, and the change your filter door didn't pop up until 10 loads - or a week of laundry. I will be purchasing the 1/4 inch a/c filter and cutting multiple filters for the vent at quite a bit if savings over the filters that can be purchased from the manufacturer. They also work much better than the ones provided by the manufacturer. The pictures below are of the installation in the garage with the change your filter door popped up, and the metal filter and 1/4 inch a/c filter after 10 loads (1 week) of laundry. This appears to be the right combination for maximum efficiency and longest filter use between changes. Update 2 - 10/20/16 I have added a picture of the filters I experimented with. The green and black ones on the top work best. The blue one (I tried 1/2 in. & 1/4 in. were as bad as the filter provided by the manufacturer. The denser the filter the less loads. The two less dense/light weight filters did as good as of a job at blocking the lint as the denser filters. Filters in picture: 1) The green filter is from the cheapest whole house a/c filter my husband could find. It's about 1/8 inch thick. My husband had to remove it from the cardboard frame it came in. This worked as well as the black filter - about 10 loads. These are not washable at all - must be tosed after using. 2) The black filter is a foam window unit a/c filter, about 1/8 inch thick - it was the cheapest and worked as well as the green filter - about 10 loads. This was the most washable - but since they are cheap - I have been throwing them away after one use. 3) The blue filter is made out of dense fiberglass or natural hog hair (not sure which) - I tried 1/2 inch thick and 1/4 inch. The 1/2 inch thick one worked as poorly as the one provided by the manufacturer of the dryer vent. The 1/4 one worked slightly better. These are supposed to be washable - maybe with a power washer? 4) The white/blue filter is the one provided by the manufacturer - I got the least amount of loads with it (it and the 1/2 inch blue filter) - and it really isn't very washable. Update 3 03/26/2017 - Magnet Weights I have found that over time the glue on the magnet weights degrades and the magnets fall down into the vent. I would recommend putting the magnets on the top of the pop-up flap and not the underside. It's still a very good solution to my dryer venting needs - perhaps just needs a few design changes. Update 4 07/22/2017 I've added more pictures of my filter solution. The cheap ($2.94 packet of 4 20x25x1 fiberglass air filters) Flanders Easy Flow green filters from Walmart are the best. (I couldn't find them on Amazon). Just pull off the cardboard and you can cut out 6 filters from one big filter. Use care as fiberglass can poke you - using gloves while doing the cutting can eliminate that problem. As I said in another update - double up the filters in the unit. I replace the one closest to the air flow once every week to week and a half. The other about once a month. In the pictures I've added you can see how well this traps the lint - keeping it from escaping into my garage. I still highly endorse the vent - just not their filters and magnet weights - but by trail and error found good solutions.

No More Duct Cleaning Fees!
My dryer vent duct exists through the roof top, and when I noticed everything in my laundry room covered with a frank amount of dust after laundering some blankets, I figured the ducts needed cleaning. A few minutes into the procedure the service man informed me that the duct was never installed correctly, was not connected to the outside roof vent cap, and was in fact too short to couple with it. That meant then all that dryer lint and dust was simply blowing into the attic space. He told me he did not have enough ladder length to enable him to reach it, and suggested I call another service. After calling numerous companies that install dryer vent ducting, not one was interested in the job, and it was suggested I call a building contractor. I had a better idea. Following a quick search for options, I came across indoor vent systems, and ultimately decided on the BetterVent Indoor Dryer Vent system, also purchasing the flexible transition duct and an end cap for the installed wall duct. I chose it because it is not bulky, doesn't take up floor space or interfere with movement around the dryer, and its attractive. It was quick and super easy to install, and I did it myself. It really does the job too. No more dust everywhere, no more fear of lint fire hazard, and no more paying someone to clean the ducts. I can do it all and keep my money! Look at the photos. #1 – screen with filter after 10 dryer loads, #2– dirty screen before vacuuming, #3 – polyester filter before vacuuming, #4 polyester filter after vacuuming. #5 – installed system The filter vacuums very well and I expect will last a long time. I recommend this system 100% for ease of installation, effectiveness, ease of cleaning, and overall appearance.

Lots of Heat, but Does A Great Job
This vent was very easy to install. It is not extremely large in my opinion so it would be able to fit in multiple locations. That being said it does blow very hot humid air in the direct area of the vent. That is to be expected but its quite intense. I dont notice any moisture or mold buildup yet as some other products have issues with. The product itself is made of durable plastic and wire mesh to hold the filter in place. Durable and usefull.

Easy to use; saves money; made in USA.
*UPDATE* December, 2019, and it is still going strong...I've had to get new filters, but I used aquarium poly filters that are blue and white (so we don't get confused!), and cut to size. They are a bit thicker, but I'm not worried about the extra "push" that the dryer needs to do for a thicker filter, since instead of running throughout the house, the run is about 2 feet. We still love this product, and it has held up nicely. The only issue is a human one...if I/you/he/she/it/we/you/they (gotta get ALL the pronouns represented!) forget to change/clean filter, you will have fine lint in your room...it's not the filter's fault, it's my human's fault...BUY IT, you won't regret it.. We had to either spend $1800 on re-routing a dryer exhaust that no longer meets code, or hook this up. Have it for about 6 dry cycles and it works like a champ! After those cycles, there is very little lint build-up, so I don't know what the folks who are emptying this every 2 loads are drying... The run is now short (3 feet), so the dryer is more efficient with a shorter dry time, and thus uses less energy. We have it temporarily hooked up onto pegboard, and it doesn't move, so there it will stay. We spent the money on moving the washer/dryer from the second floor to the garage. Now no worries about accidental flooding, and the house doesn't shake when the washer is on spin. This vent warms up the garage a bit (it's only moist air for the first portion of the cycle); not anticipating a problem in the summer since I hang out my wash in the summer. Some reviewers have mentioned the magnets in the "clean vent" alert flap are not strong enough. They are not used as magnets, instead, they are a convenient weight system. I will update as we use this more.

AWESOME PRODUCT
OMG where has this thing been my whole life??? Our old dryer (only 5 years old) was NEVER drying clothes. We checked everything including the heating element and decided that oh well we must need a new dryer. So we bought a brand new one and experienced the same problems right off the bat!!! After 4-5 runs at super hot heat and long run times we would still pull out damp clothes!! We were told (by professionals mind you) that we must have build up of lint in our ducts. So EVERY week we would then have to disconnect the ENTIRE ducting behind the dryer and use a leaf blower to blow out the lint that would get trapped in order to get a MINIMAL improvement in dry times. You see, our laundry room is located on the main level near the garage. The throw/ducting runs UNDER THE FLOOR and has a throw of about 100 ft plus with the turns it has to make. Boom! There was our problem! But our solution?? We were given two options (again by the so called professionals): 1: relocate our washer and dryer to another room in the house that would vent directly to the outside (this is not possible because the only room that that would work for our family is the bathroom in the basement and that means giving up a full bathroom in a 5200 square-foot three level house AND having to wire for the right electrical $$$$$ so that’s out) OR Two: redoing our entire venting system to accommodate a larger ducting system and a duct fan (this would involve ripping out a floor and a wall and cost us about $5000 so yeah no that’s out too). We decided to maybe try a duct fan with no remodel first to at least help with the drying times and pushing the lint out of the ducts. But then as I was ordering a fan from Amazon I came across this Bettervent system. I watched the video and the inventor said The system was designed for people who had a long throw from the dryer to the outside! That was us!! I bought it thinking it couldn’t hurt and worse case we’d be out a few bucks and back to square one with the leaf blower. OMG am I glad I bought this thing!!! Our dryer dries clothes in ONE RUN!! They are hot, fresh and wrinkle free!!! No more damp smelly clothes!! I don’t have problems with humidity/mildew as other people have mentioned as I have a small table top dehumidifier running in the room and I also turn on the venting fan in the laundry room. I also clean out the trap after every use so that we don’t get a build up which helps the dryer and the venting system work more effectively together! This thing has changed our laundry game!! Will buy again and again and again if need be while in this house! Super impressed! My wife is the one who installed it and it literally took her only 15 minutes! The calibration was the hardest part as you have to cover the vent and then add weights to the emergency venting system at the top...that can get a little tricky.... The sticky parts on the weights aren’t so sticky so we may have to rig something up in the future if they fall off from the dry air but who cares?? That’s a minor inconvenience compared to what we were dealing with before! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product if you have a long throw for your duct system!! It is well worth the money!!!

An awesome dryer vent!! ***UPDATED 3/2/2025***
I just had my kitchen remodeled and of course had to move all my appliances out, including my stacked washer and dryer. I just purchased a new washer, and I knew when they brought it out they would lecture me on my dryer not having a vent that went into the attic. I spend a lot of time shopping and can come up with stuff that nobody knew even exists. That's where this vent came in. When they delivered my washer, they also volunteered to install this dryer vent. It may not be the most beautiful thing, but it works for me and my needs. When the filter needs to be changed, a flap on the top of it raises up to let you know. Everything seems to be working well so far. I think I made the right choice in purchasing this. ***UPDATE -- Instead of dragging the vacuum cleaner out, I take the filter outside and pound it on the bricks surrounding the carport. It beats the dust out of it and the bricks are rough enough that it grabs the lint and 'fluff'. This works better for me and my needs. I would definitely recommend this dryer vent!!!***

BetterVent is a better way to take care of venting an electric dryer.
Since I have 3 dogs I didn't want an indoor dryer vent that had to use water because it would be too easy for my dogs to knock over. I read several reviews before choosing the BetterVent. This gadget is great. It was easy to install on the wall right next to my dryer. After putting it together and attaching an 8 foot long dryer vent hose to the dryer and the Bettervent hose opening on the bottom I finally got to enjoy drying about 4 loads of laundry. (Honestly, who "enjoys" doing laundry.) I have a ceiling vent in my laundry room so I used that to pull moisture out of the laundry room for the second load. I forgot to turn it on for the first load but I really didn't notice the room which is small warming up much at all. I bought this because we have a mobile home and the vent going to the outside of the house is either broken away from the outside vent or it was hopelessly clogged after 14 years. I had bought a new dryer that has digital buttons and a dryer vent warning if the vent is not clean and it had blinked constantly when I did one load with the dryer vent that went under our house. I stopped using the dryer at that point so I wouldn't burn it up and hung up the blasted clothes on the line again temporarily. Calls to find out if it could be repaired and cleaned were not good. Repairs, cleaning etc would have cost over $300.00 and that was only if I could find someone to work on a mobile home. Yeah, right. We mobile home owners are the one legged, ugly red headed step children no one wants to do any work for. So $48.00 for the Bettervent seemed a lot better and less expensive alternative. 1. Easy to install (I'm in my 70's and a kid or old lady like me can install this.) 2. It looks nice and is well put together. 3. It's easy to clean. Just open the door and any lint that's caught on the screen inside can be cleared off easily.) 4. The "robbers" that want you to spend large amounts of money are losers on this. 5. I asked questions and the BetterVent people answered my questions the same day I asked. Great customer service. 6. I am now a happy one legged, ugly red headed step child with a mobile home and a dryer vent that works. So if you have any doubts about the BetterVent you can use this without any worry. I had doubts but not anymore. This gadget really works and I am really happy with this purchase for my laundry room.. One more thing. It was shipped quickly and I got it a day before the estimated delivery dates. Adding additional information. I've had this for a few months now and I've been using the same filter. It can easily be cleaned by using a bottle brush, the kind with bristles, not the foam kind to gently hit the lint loose that collects on the inside of the filter, the light blue side of it. It gets pretty dark as it fills up with lint but goes back to the light blue color when its been batted clean. I do this outside obviously. The screen catches the rest. I also have developed the habit of washing the clothes at night and drying them in the mornings to take advantage of the "free heat".. The heat warms up the laundry room and some of that heat makes its way into the rest of the house. It is not only drying my clothes but its also saving me heating costs as well.

Adds humidity.
This works as described but be ready for the humidity! This pumps moisture into the room along with the hot air, fogging the windows and mirror.
