A wonderful read
Once in a while, a book comes along that is so well written, the reader reflexively searches for other books by its author. The System’s Thinker - Analytical Skills is a prime example of this rare breed. This book may not be encyclopedic in content, but it, without a doubt covers a sufficient amount of material to warrant its use in analysis. The author made absolutely every topic that was introduced in this book both intuitive and rigorous, and yet some sections are as fun to read as a novel.

Boring but not bad
Book Review: The System Thinker – Analytical SkillsI like that the book opens with an recruiting example on how to set up criteria to focus on goals of a program, including gender and ethnic diversity, and yield a balance candidate pool that meet program objectives. The central theme of the book was to increase and improve analytical thinking. The basic concepts were simple but the text was terse. There were a few unexpected jewels:1. Improving analytical skills supports both professional and personal goals2. When reading books review from more than one point of view which will help improve analytical thinking3. When taking walks observe environment and surroundings including soundsThe book closes with the five E Model for policy analysis• Effectiveness• Efficiency• Ethical Considerations• Evaluation of Alternatives• Establishment of Recommendations for Positive ChangeThis reviewer was happy that the book was short, to the point, and gave a few more tools in the kit to tackle complex problems. However it was a boring not bad read.

This is garbage.
Most likely written by AI, this book is complete garbage. You will not learn one tool or improve anything in your life with this book. The prose, layout, examples, vocabulary, examples, and “lessons/topics” are all so general that it was written by a third grader or a Chinese person reading from the internet or something. This book is mostly jibberish, regurgitated, rambling - “when you buy a car, there are many things to consider. If you do not consider many things when buying a car, you may regret not considering many things.” Do not waste your money on this book. YOU WILL NOT LEARN ONE THING.

Practice makes perfect.
Solving problems without using emotions sounds so simple but there is much more to it, analytical thinking comes in many forms. Communication is how we share our ideas, manage conflict, consider tough topics from an unbiased perspective and is a key part of analytical skills. You want to improve your critical thinking then this book is for you, these are skills that can be learned and improved by anyone that puts in the work. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone that follows Albert Rutherford's work and is looking to better their analytical skills.

Book for sure is a primer
I used this book to understand my real analysis class and I can confidently say that I understand the bulk of what analysis is about after having read this book.I appreciated the examples of policy analysis at the end of the book which is basically intertwining analytical a systems thinking approaches. The book for sure is a primer. You won’t learn to go deep with it. But for those who are beginners in analysis or wish to refresh their knowledge, I’d recommend this quick read.

Amazing Connection
I loved this book. It explains the topics of analysis in an informal way. It walks you through the proofs step by step. It doesn't go too crazy complicated, but is a great supplement to have while trying to improve your analysis skills. A lot of insight broken down into the revise-it-yourself method. There is a great link between intuition and formal thinking.

Started out strong, but weak ending. Needs more explanations in the summary.
Too many useless examples..need better explanations.Started out good, but went soft toward the end..Author needs to be more definitive.
