MTM 805-Single Pistol Handgun Case Up to 4" Revolver Barrel, USA Made

I recently purchased a Springfield Hellcat OSP 9mm pistol. It came with a soft shell case that accommodates the pistol, but not much else. I wanted a hard shell case that was a little bigger to accommodate an extra magazine and a magazine loader, but I didn't want a full size pistol case that would take up too much space. After much searching at the local sporting goods stores and firearms dealers I found this case on Amazon. I think it's perfect for my pistol and any other sub-compact/micro compact pistol out there. Let's start with what it is not: It is not a safe. It will not protect your firearm from theft. It will not protect it from being submerged in water. It will not protect against anyone who is willing to pry or cut it open to access what's inside. The case is pretty solid and durable, but it is plastic. What it is: It is a nice case to store your pistol and a few accessories to protect their finish. With an installed trigger lock/cable lock, it will protect your children from accessing your pistol and accidentally discharging it. Add a couple of padlocks to the holes in the case for added security against children. The case can be made as child safe as you are willing to make it. Just as a reference, there were two versions of this case available. A less expensive "original model" sold and shipped by Amazon and an "improved" version soldand shipped by a third party retailer for several dollars more. A friend ordered the "improved" one from a third party on Amazon and I ordered this original version directly through Amazon. It's funny because we each received the exact same item down to the sticker on the case and SKU number on the sticker. There was absolutely nothing visually apparent to the eye to differentiate the two! They also weigh the same and their foam inserts are the same. If you’re on the fence or confused, just order the Amazon version (sold and shipped by Amazon) and save a few dollars. Okay, we've gotten that out of the way. The case is made of a durable plastic that should last for years. The hinge side is a full length hinge, but it is all plastic! No metal rod securing the two halves. The hinge is snapped together and it could be popped open with a pry tool and a little effort. As a reference, most of the full sized cases I looked at in the $10.00-$20.00 price range were made very similarly. Again, this is not a safe and I didn't purchase it as such. It is great for storage and transporting. The front snaps are also made of plastic, but snap together securely and the edges of the two halves overlap to prevent any gaps. There are padlock holes on either side of the front of the case for added security. The foam inserts appear to be made from good quality mid-weight foam. I didn't observe any pits in them or notice any dust coming off of them as some other reviewers had mentioned. They are as good as any other foam inserts I have had on other firearm cases. They are not glued in, but fit snug and don't fall out with gravity. They are reversible in case you want a smooth flat side and not the egg crate pattern. The egg crates held my Hellcat (secured with a trigger lock), a magazine, and a magazine holder very securely. I played with some other configurations (please see the attached photos). I was easily able to snap the case closed and the items inside would not shift or move around when carrying the case or abruptly moving it around. I currently do not have a red dot optic on my firearm, but as you can see from my last photo with the pistol sitting lower in the case, it will fit without a problem. All in all this is a great value for the price and does exactly what I need it to do; store and protect my firearm. With some additional steps it can be made more child-safe. I highly recommend it.

I love it! This is the first I've bought a case. I took a chance on reviews and size descriptions and found it to be perfect FOR MY NEEDS. See the last part for SECURITY CONCERNS. NO REAL CONS at this price & purpose. ALL PROS: * SIZE is just shy of a regular sheet of paper. * Interior fits my S&W M&P Shield 9mm which is a concealed size (bigger than Ruger LC9). I can also store 1 if not 2 extra mags and a rectangular box of 50 rounds. I could fit 2 small handguns which is my range plan (ammo elsewhere, however). * Love the color. * Has good, thick foam on both sides inside. No items loose inside. * Very lightweight. * Good room for your fingers in the handle. I would be considered medium to large hands. * Has TWO clips to hold closed. They not only hold tightly but are also good if the load inside is uneven with one side being harder to shut than the other. It allows complete closure (ie, ammo vs vs. weapon itself). * Has the two holes under the handle through which a safety lock can be threaded. * Hinges are all along the back. They will not pop off with it closed. (see important note below on security). * American made (well-made) which is nice to support and buy. SECURITY: This is where your PURPOSE MAY VARY. I have it for transport to and from the range and across state lines in a locked manner as needed to meet local laws. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THEFT or DETERMINED & DESTRUCTIVE children, then the threaded holes locking situation is NOT ENOUGH. There are 3 EASY WAYS TO BREAK INTO THIS CASE: 1) easiest is to cut off with a small dremel or pry with a screwdriver or hit with a screwdriver and hammer to break the "clamshell" hinges. 2) It's PLASTIC, and I can squeeze and move the flat surface are a bit. This is easily drilled or "sawed" into as with the hinges being cut. 3), If someone put a padlock (thin ring/loop) though only one of the holes, it is very easy to then open one side and bend it back to get inside. It takes just a little leverage to do so. EXTRA NOTE: At this price, it can also be used as a GREAT storage and transport case with or without the foam for anything including kids toys or crayons or rock collections and such. I might even get another for my own use as an adult that doesn't include a firearm (nail polish, firearm cleaning supplies, delicate jewelry, artists supplies, 150 rd of 9mm ammo plus a target practice magazine rather than a bag, etc..... Now I've convinced myself to go ahead and get more.... PICTURES: * 2 pistols - .22 LR revolver total 8.5" long (handle back edge to barrel end) PLUS the M&P shield about 6" total length. Both are pictured with 6" rulers for scale. * a pic showing 150 rounds of 9mm ammo plus a mag which could be a longer mag. I would recommend cutting the foam backing in half IF packing like this OR just replace one side with some thickly folded cloths as that thickness across it might be too much pressure for those hinges such that an accidental drop or hit would pop it open more easily. * the pic with the Shield, mag outside, and 50 round box isn't as much pressure as all across so the foam is fine as are the hinges. The good clips keep it closed. * provided some different configurations as well as with and without a loaded magazine and added a 4" knife. * lock holes diameter is appx 7 mm; pinky finger nail included for scale. Ruler was to hard to show.

Excellent quality and a perfect fit for my Smith and Wesson Model 63 J-Frame revolver

Well-made, easy to lock and inexpensive. If you travel with a handgun on a U.S. airline or on Amtrak, you will need to pack it in a hard lockable case like this inside your luggage. This case meets the requirements and is more compact than, say, the original plastic box that comes with Glocks.

It fits my 9mm perfectly. Lightweight and easy to carry. For the price it’s a winner.

Very well made and big enough for most large pistols. Can't beat the price and it is made in U.S.A..

It is listed to only accommodate up to a 4” barrel nut I found it went beyond this plus had room for an additional Mag. Very good case for the money.

I should have read the detailed description because I was expecting it to be of regular size but it turned out to be samller than anticipated. It's still a good fit and well built case for a single hangun, satisfied with the product for it's $5 price! Snug, seccure and hard plastic case that will surely last a good set of years.
