I use this as a hoof trimming tool for my horses, and it's brilliant! Plenty sharp and long lasting under heavy use. I use to trim the frog. The size is easy to hold in my smaller hands. I keep it outside undercover in the PNW, and it hasnt had any issues with rusting.

While there are several different ones to choose from I normally go for the highest rated and this one was. Okay, there isn't a nice pouch like other ones, but the blades are really sharp and cutters have a nice sturdy feel and build. I wish there were grips to help soften the impact and to provide better grip. Might add some grip tape at some point. The few trees I tested this on gave me a really clean and even cut. Wouldn't suggest for tiny branches/nubs as they can prevent a clean cut and end up pulling the trees skin. Worth the price and hope that they last a while.

I don't have a huge need for these just yet, as most of my bonsai are quite young (costs force me to grow most of mine from seeds)...but I do have an oak and a strangler fig in my yard that I can take cuttings from, and which I let seed areas of the yard to let grow in ground a few years. Those are the trees I have used this with so far, and it does exactly what you'd expect, with ease. Smooth action, clean cuts. What more do you need?
