A great value
This set was advertised in like new condition, and it was! It arrived in pristine condition, and I can't wait to start it. --I did, and it's great!!! Love the projects and the accompanying materials!! The supportive experiments are always interesting for me. I also love the fact that it's plastic and way easier for my fingers to put together and take apart than many other similar products. This kit is kind of expensive but also informative, and, for me, really fun. I love solar and love having a mini solar panel!!!

Good for a little while..
My son enjoyed this but it was played with much after first couple uses. It was worth the $34 I spent on it last year. I don’t know why everyone is charging so much for it now!

Fun toy that makes all sorts of powered models - not sure how educational it is, but it's a good toy
This is a really fun kit that my kids had a blast building. I gave it to my 9 year old son who eagerly dug into it and started to build. Here's the thing - it's not really a "science" kit per se - it's a fun building kit that is powered by either 2 AA batteries or a solar cell. Oh - and you need some rechargeable batteries because the solar cell will actually charge the batteries as well. What you do is build various things with pieces that are similar to Lego Technic or K'Nex, and they are powered by a solar panel or by batteries. In fact, this is priced similarly to a K'Nex Solar Education set we recently evaluated. The difference is that the solar cell here actually works and powers the toy. It ran great both on solar and on batteries. It is a bit pricey, and I'm not sure what to do with all of these parts because they don't really work with K'Nex or Lego. I am dubious as to the "science" part of it, but it is a fun toy and sure to be appreciated.

Science hidden in a building toy
This is a fun building/science kit. The pieces are very similar in style to Lego Technic parts. There are a variety of models to build from a grasshopper to a helicopter. Everything works with the solar panel (or batteries). But not only do you learn about solar, you learn about gears, science experiments, etc. I think the science in this is pretty basic. But that's right where my eight year old son is. I'm going to use it to teach him the basics of what scientific experiments are! And since he gets to build and play with a solar powered, motorized kit--he won't even know he's learning!! The quality of all the parts seems good. I've looked through the book, snapped some of the pieces together, and tried the solar panel motor. The quality of everything is good. We're going to have a lot of fun with this! I'll be sure to update after we've finished a few experiments.

Solar cell did not work. Kind of important part for this kit. Package arrived on time.
