Highly informative.
Interesting details on weapons, equipment and how the USMC functioned in the 1990s. Along with speculation about the future. Can always count on Tom Clancy to provide authentic and compelling stories.

Entertaining and educational!
A smattering of the Marine grind, laid out and contextualized. Compiled to be interesting and assimilated by non-military. Need to dive into the military feet first, over the edge into a world few get to see, then read Marine. It's fast moving and sweeps the reader (this reader) into a universe with facts and details of what it is like to be a Marine. The facts didn't bog me down. Like a gun designer who lives not far from where I hail built homemade weapons and figured out to spread energy to buffer the recoil. This book resurrected the past physical science teacher nerd in me and I was surprised by the photographs that accompanied the descriptions. First ebook I've read that came with. Who knew!

Dated but insightful
What the book loses in its references to systems that never panned out, such as the AAAV, it gains back in the creative scenarios in which Tom Clancy describes the use of MEU (SOC)s.

Christmas gift
It was a gift for my son and he likes it. I have not read the book myself, but I am reading another Tom Clancy novel and it is very detailed, so I'm sure "Marine" has lots of good information in it.

Great overview of the key Marine unit.
For anyone considering military service or the parent of a Marine this is the one book to show you how the USMC works and it will make you proud.
