I started taking Ashwagandha a while ago to help relieve anxiety symptoms. I work from home, and sometimes I can feel like the walls are closing in on me. Not all the time, but when it does hit me it's a terrible feeling. I get very shaky and nervous, and imagine all sorts of more serious problems are at hand from the slightest ache or pain, which can very well see the situation spiral out of control. (The old "feeling of impending doom" thingy that true anxiety sufferers know all too well I'm afraid). Though I have taken a mood support supplement in the past for years, it never made me feel so totally relaxed as when I started combining it with Ashwagandha. I actually couldn't believe how good I felt after taking it the first time. I just felt so relaxed, unhurried, and content. It was as good as any miracle drug could be at the time I promise you. And I have been taking it ever since, and still feel its working continuously at taking the edge off and making me feel more secure and relaxed all the time. One capsule morning and night it all it takes. And you will even sleep much more soundly with it. I only wish I had found it years ago...I have tried several brands of this in the past, and keep coming back to the Swansons for the price, and more importantly the brand has never disappointed me. I've taken other supplements by them as well, and still do, (including Lycopene and CoQ10). The price is very reasonable, as well as always available and shipped quickly here on Amazon, and as mentioned before, consistently effective. If you have a problem or a history of stress/anxiety disorders I highly suggest you try this before that horrible feeling of the deep end being just up ahead overwhelms you. I can't promise it will be as effective for you, but for me personally it's working wonderfully, and I won't be without it again... : )

Works well for several needs.

My problem is not so much getting to sleep, it's staying asleep- this seems to be the only thing that really helps. I remember Dr. Oz making a big point about how great this herb was for that specific issue (No, let me make it clear I am not someone's crazy bed ridden grandma who watches Dr. Oz for medical advice and starts spouting it to people, I jist happened to see him remark on this herb and remember it.)After finding valerian root virtually did nothing for helping my sleep, and learning the risks of kava kava..I stumbled across Ashwagandha as an Ayurvedic option for anxiety and stress, remember Dr. Oz mentioning it, as well as several reports and studies of it benefiting several systems of the brain and promoting healing, so I figured at the inexpensive price it couldn't hurt.The first night I took it, both me and my husband had beautiful deep sleep and stayed asleep until morning. This was quite exciting, because I for one, have been battling insomnia for a while.I now take it every single night, and it seems to be helping. The nights I forget, I often wake up as I used to. I also find my memory and head are overall clearer during the day. I don't actually find this herb sleep inducing by itself, but rather stress relieving with no real effect on my energy level. This is a great option for sufferers of daytime anxiety avoiding drugs.

This stuff is great! Taken with magnesium glycinate and it provides me with a deep sleep I've been yearning for.

I have a normal to large larynx, esophagus, etc. I normally swallow with ease even big chunks of food.These pills however are most of the times getting stuck everywhere; Somedays it is in the larynx, someother days in the esophagus. I then need to take plenty of water to swipe them down, or sometimes they just get stuck for hours.next time I would buy some pills with lower concentration and take two instead of just one.I take this after meals at night, as they cannot ever be taken alone. The ashwagandha at this concentration is harsh for the gastric mucose.I'm using the ashwangadha (at night) and rhodiola, schizandra, as well as the mixed up formula marketed as "Rhodiola Ashwagandha Ginseng Complex" from swanson during the day.This is for lowering cortisol levels at a critical phase, so I use it as a treatment for an acute symptom of a desease characterized by high levels of cortisol. In the past the "complex formula made up of several herbs" has proved to be effective.
