Got this for my office to give people something to play with. Proven to be great conversation piece.

I bought a few items to entertain my nephew and turns out they are all made in China which to me is a negative…………. BUT I will say they all work just like advertised. The rattle back spins one direction but the other it rattles end to end and spins back the other direction 1.5-4 rotations on average depending on the surface.It travels well in a pocket also which was important when I visit the 3 year old nephew. I was amazed how well the tops are balanced, my record with the conventional top is 4 min 20 seconds, the round top once flipped upside down, about a min. All 3 were not what I consider cheap but I’ll admit they are quality and will last a long time. I’m curious what former life the metals had before turning into this rattle back and tops lol. All in all I’m happy with the purchase, although I would have preferred the rattle back to be more ornate on the flat section, would add more Pazazz to its presentation to children. BTW everything in this picture is in motion.

Initially, no one believes the spinner will really do what you tell them it does! I love the look of shock when people see me spin it, and it goes on forever, and when I let them try, it not only stops, but then rotates in the reverse.My wife works in an elementary school and this is on her desk. It’s great for confounding children and adults alike. When their children look up, expecting her to say” it’s magic, that’s why” she looks them in the eyes, and simply says” it’s science, fun, ha”

This trick is a solid piece of steel and is worth the extra money. The weight of the metal presents well and enables it to spin for a long time on a flat surface. Its secret is in slightly shifting the center of the weight on one side of the piece versus the other. It is almost imperceptible and is not noticeable when handed to audience members for a "look and feel" beforehand. Spin it counter-clockwise and it spins great. Spin it clockwise and it shakes, stops, then starts spinning counter-clockwise. It's a realistic and dramatic motion that can be easily exploited. Lastly, a warning: if you are someone who can really make objects move, DO NOT purchase this product. It will completely destroy your credibility if people one day find out this is a trick.

I ordered the silver edition and they sent me the gold edition. Additionally it has a very large scratch right on the top.Also the quality of the "rattleback" doesn't seem very good. No matter how much or how little I spin it counterclockwise it shakes and basically comes to a stop instead of spinning back the other way.I bought this as a gift because I thought it would be super cool but now I am not so sure.

not sure if the shape is quite right or maybe the mass and metal but it does not work as well as the plastic ones. works ok on harder surfaces (glass or metal) but not on my wood desk/tables.
