Treasure Cove TC-1010 Fortune Finder Junior Metal Detector

This product claims to be designed for children, but it's most definitely not. The ONLY way to make it work is to zero it out and then maintain the detectors' distance above the ground by +/- .5" Any deviation above or below this elevation and the device won't work. Good luck teaching your 6-10 year old child how to hold this elevation for the duration of the search. I'm 40 years old and it was impossible for me.Spend the money on a real metal detector, and don't waste your money on this one.Oh, and my request for "support" or assistance of any kind from the manufacturer were totally ignored. Way to stand behind your product guys!

Disappointed,,Had a lot trouble tuning it.Did not find much in targets.Couldn't get the depth it advertised,,,

I've been trying to find a way to get my son out of the house, away from his Xbox and get outdoors. So I bought my son this treasure Cove Junior TC1010. I do agree with another reviewer that this is not for a six-year-old, this is a perfect metal detector for a 10-year-old child or up. It's easy to use, doesn't require the use of a lot of complicated buttons and is really lightweight. My son and I went out immediately (of course I hid a few coins -- to make sure we would find something) and within a couple hours he was totally engaged. On subsequent hunts, we really did find some coins. But maybe more important is its a hobby that I can do with my son and spend some quality time with him.
