I love my machine!! I knew it to be trustworthy already because my school's fibers lab owns one and I spent a lot of time using it. The only issue I've ever had is the needles breaking occasionally, if you are trying to felt a particularly chunky piece too fast. Take it slow! I use mine with the foot up though, since I am usually felting a piece that I've wet felted and it's quite plushy so it doesn't move with the foot down. You can get pretty detailed with this machine but I find it's best used for felting larger pieces, either to solidify wet felted pieces or to make images or patterns or color work on an existing piece. I've also used it to make 3D work. The needles punch noticeable lines in your piece so you can even make subtle designs with that.Get this one, don't mess with the cheaper version!

i love this. i am still figuring out how to use it for embellishing with non felt (like silk). but after the holidays i plan to really start working on learning my way around machine needle felting. the light could be brighter, i bought a stick on led to use to make up for that. and like all sewing machines they give you a screw driver that is too long to use to remove the foot plate. i don't understand that but every machine i ever owned was that way. be sure to spend the money to get the attachment that lets you change out individual broken needles. you will break needles. and it is better to replace one at a time than the whole set of five.
