Attic Ladder Spreader Hinge Arms Replacement Kit for Werner 55-1 2006 and Older - (Pair)

Hinge is sturdy and works great. My only beef is with the instructions which leave out important details. Even though the hinges are marked L and R, I only needed to replace the right hinge, but it took me a few minutes to decide if it meant “right side “ if you are on the floor looking up or when you are in the attic looking down (where you actually are when installing). Also I was very thankful for the others who recommended attaching the hinge to the rail as the last step - this was a major effort, time, and frustration saver! I was able to do this from the attic while the door was closed, not by your helper from the floor as in the instructions. It was helpful, though, to have my helper push up on the door from below to align the hinge and rail holes while attaching them after the spring was reattached. Overall very happy with the project.

Perfect fit for older attic ladder. Works great, easy to install. No problems with bolts as some other people reported. IMO I suspect they just over tightened them.

This replacement fit my Werner 2010 (old style) ladder. But the included "instructions" didn't say that the existing rivet on the square plate needs to be removed and "replaced" by the long lag bolts included. I was about to return the order until I finally figured it out myself. Now I know how to do the L side next time. The new style arms are way sturdier than the original ones.

Very easy to install, product seems to be very sturdy/durable.

I predrilled the whole and everything. Lag nut broke & is now all the way in. No way I can use the bracket again with a screw broke off in the bracket. Out of ideas now. Will have to replace the ladder. Also it was $46 3 days ago and now it’s 26. Can’t catch a break.

For a product which is supposed to support half the wait of an attic ladder, this one is questionable. The hinge itself seems okay, however, the hardware which shipped with it is made of very soft metal, and the power tools literally ripped it apart. We had to drill it out and use different hardware to attach the hinge. Worth noting before you go to install these.

Exactly the right replacement for my bent worn out attic door hinges. Easy to replace if you use YouTube videos for instructions. Don’t be afraid to do it yourself, you don’t need a second person locked in the attic. Be safe wear safety googles and gloves

My 96-97 Werner Attic stair hinge failed. I was very pleased to find this hinge replacement (without changing out the whole stair unit) which looks sturdier than the original, which lasted over 20 years. At the point where my old hinge failed, it looks like the new hinge is thicker at that point. It took about an hour to replace. Looks different from the old hinge, but works beautifully and you don't have to change the other hinge if it still is operational.
