Best Pokémon version yet
If you are a fan of Pokémon you MUST buy this game. End of discussion. Yes, it's even better than Gold and Silver were. With 150 all new monsters and 0 of the old ones (until you beat the elite 4) it's just like playing those old games all over again. You run into stuff and you're like "Hey, what's THAT?" Graphics The visuals in the game are slick and faultless. The world is now fully 3D and is rendered in loving detail. Building interiors still get reused a little more than is preferable but each gym has a unique appearance and style. In battle, Pokémon are constantly animated and even close their eyes when asleep and more important trainers may themselves be animated. A variety of Pokémon have different visuals depending on their sex, time of year, or other factors. Sound The audio is top notch, even more so than usual for a Pokémon game. The Team Plasma battle music and the background music for several of the cities are particularly catchy. Gameplay There are a number of improvements in gameplay. Battles move faster and weather only animates on the first turn of a battle. TMs can now be used an infinite number of times. EXP is now calculated in a way that gives more EXP to lower level Pokémon fighting higher level Pokémon. As with every generation there are tons of new moves and hold items to customize your Pokémon but interestingly several moves have been slightly altered. Dark patches of grass can get you into doubles battles in the wild and shaking grass can give you rare or powerful Pokémon for each area. One downside though is that whereas in earlier versions you could play the game almost entirely with the touch pad and the D-pad now using the buttons will be required as in the overworld your touch pad area is filled with a new attachment called the C-Gear which allows you to connect with friends and strangers. Finally, HMs are of highly reduced importance in this game. If I recall correctly the only HM-use absolutely required to complete the game is a single instance of Cut near the beginning. Pokémon The new Pokémon are great and the styling and balance is very good. It's worth noting that this generation does not have a "bidoof/zigzagoon/rattata/zubat"-type Pokémon that appears everywhere to the point of annoyance. There is also a wide variety of Pokémon to catch and train, though the selection of Water-type Pokémon is surprisingly limited as there are no water routes in the whole game. Some people have complained that the starters are not as clever and interesting as they were in the past, particularly the fire one whose final evolution is yet another Fire/Fighting type. I personally think they're fine though. Plot/Story/Difficulty A Pokémon game with story? MADNESS! But it's true. Pokémon Black and White have a decent plot line with momentum to it that will keep you wanting to see what happens next. The NPCs are interesting to talk to and take an active part in the plot-line doing almost as much work to save the world as you do. I will caution that it's still a Pokémon game, not Proust, but it's good enough to keep most players hooked. The game likewise offers an unexpected challenge to those familiar with the franchise. The game does a good job of pacing itself so that opponents stay close to the level of the player. Many trainers and all gym leaders have learned moves specifically to counter their obvious weaknesses and the AI can employ some strategy. That said, this isn't a hard game by any means, but it will keep you on your toes at least. Gripes Yes, I have a few nits to pick. No game is perfect and Pokémon Black and White are no exception. The biggest is Black City/White Forest, a special area the player gains access to after defeating the elite four. These areas will be entirely EMPTY and devoid of content if the player does not complete the game in TEN DAYS. That's right, the moment you flick on the game for the first time a clock starts ticking and doesn't stop when you turn the game off. There is absolutely no warning or even HINT about this in game. You can fill the areas up by connecting to people via the ExtraLink who have already filled them but if you don't have a friend handy to do that then you're just outta luck. Second is the C-Gear, which fills up the touch screen at all times in the overworld when that screen could be put to much better use. Should I buy this for my child/parent/sibling/significant other/self/alter ego? Yes, without question this is the best Pokémon game ever produced. Black and White are masterpieces and the highest level of craft for Gamefreak to date. Anyone who has ever enjoyed a Pokémon game will love this and quite a few who have not should give this incarnation a shot.

A Great Unit for any Hand-Held Gaming Fan
The Nintendo DSi brings a cool level of interactivity to your DS. You can now record sounds and take photos - both front and back - with your DS! On the downside, it only plays DS games - it cannot play old style games. Nintendo DSi Review Rather than giving you a lot of cold statistics that you can find on the many marketing sites out there, let me instead give you my actual, personal observations after playing and using this DS. We have owned pretty much every version of a Nintendo handheld that has come out over the years and avidly enjoy them. This Nintendo DSi is definitely a worthy successor to this line. For players of older games, it's important to note the DSi only plays DS style games, not any older games. That is quite fine by me. There are a TON of DS games out at this point and many older games are compiled onto DS format. If you really want to play an older style game, get one of those older style units. The units are very cheap at this point. The focus of the DSi on only DS games means it is light, thin, and very easy to use. The DSi has TWO cameras - one facing forwards, one facing backwards. This means you can easily take photos of yourself and friends! We had a ton of fun taking photos of each other, of our pets, and using all of their morphing and kaleidoscope features to make great images out of them. You can save the images to a SD card for use on your computer and printing out. I love the microphone tools. You can record 10 second blurbs and add harmonies, raise or lower the pitch, and do other operations on them. This is a lot of fun as well. The unit comes to you pre-charged which is awesome. It means you can start playing games the moment you get it. Instant gratification is a good thing! The image size is great, larger than previous DS units. The audio quality is great as well! This really is an awesome handheld gaming unit for all of the latest generation games. I'm really enjoying their easy to use interface, and looking forward to all of the games I'll be able to download wirelessly. It's important to note that the DSi uses a different type of charger than the original DS, so the two aren't interchangeable. The DSi of course comes with its own charger so you don't have to worry about buying one. It also comes with an extra stylus. I am really enjoying the DSi. You might say "it's only a little brighter, only a little larger, only a little lighter." However, when you're talking about a tiny unit that fits on your hand, it is often those tiny improvements that make a huge difference. The small lightness boost makes it easier to hold and carry in a full purse. The brightness and better sound give that much more fun to the gaming experience. While some might scoff at the microphone and camera, both are great fun. The higher quality sound means I can actually now use this as a MP3 player! It uses AAC format. This is a standard format and there are free converters out there if you tend to use MP3 or other formats. To summarize, I love this unit. If you don't have any DS unit I would definitely get this one rather than one of the previous DS units. If you already have a DS or DS Lite I'd recommend giving those to a younger sibling or friend, and getting a new DSi for yourself. The added playability and abilities definitely makes it a must-have for me. Please let me know if you have any questions about the DSi!

Originally bought this product so I could trade Pokémon between games, and I didn't expect much out of it. However, this little Ds turned out to be really fun to play, and after a few minutes you barely notice the difference in size between it and the XL counterparts. Not to mention, the only aspects of it that could be considered "poor quality" that I've noticed after having it for around 2 weeks are limited to very minor paint scratches near the hinges, with absolutely nothing else being wrong with it. For the cheapest price I could find on tia specific Ds, and the speed at which it arrived, I would definitely recommend this item for anyone looking to buy.
