Marmite 250g Single Pack

A Scottish friend recommended Marmite, but cautioned it was an acquired taste. For me it was instantaneous. I love a slice of good bread, lightly spread with butter, and then lightly spread with Marmite. It's a perfect little breakfast. Savory rather than sweet and loaded with nutrients. I haven't tried it in cooking yet, but I hear it adds depth to stews and other dishes.

For reference, I eat 2 pieces of Vegemite toast every single day.Marmite tastes exactly the same - though with a tiny, and I mean minuscule, hint of sweet scent (only a scent too, no taste). So basically it’s delicious.However, it has the consistency of honey, which makes it somewhat of a pain to handle compared to Vegemite, as you’ll get gooey sticky strings everywhere if you’re not careful. It’s more diluted in taste, so put more onto your toast to achieve the same intensity.At the end of the day, they’re just ultra-salty spreads made from leftover beer stuff. It’s satisfying and delicious. Don’t monitor your sodium intake too much.

Yummy stuff. Been eating this on crackers and toast since I was a child. A little goes a long way.

Marmite. Love it or Hate it!!! I adore it!!!!

I ordered some of this basically just to try it. I found that yes indeed, it is really salty and very strong flavored. You don't need much of this stuff to add some real flavor to whatever it is you are putting it on. I found that compared to other similar products, this one has more of a beer flavor. I ended up using a lot of my jar to make Marmite pasta which was really different and good enough to make a couple times afterwards. Unfortunately the pasta uses up a lot of a small jar quickly, and given the expense it makes for some pricey pasta. But I'd recommend it if you want to try something pretty alien to American taste buds. All I can think is it reminds me of beer, soy sauce, and salt, but not exactly. I guess you will just have to try it. If you have sensitive taste buds this might be too much for you. Try a little on saltines with some cheese, or smear it on buttered toast like the English serve it. I just deduct a star because it should be cheaper IMO.

My husband loves Marmite, so Iordered this jar. It arrived sooner than expected and the jar is a great size. This should last for a bit.
