SATA to dual Molex adapter
Takes a standard SATA power lead and gives you 2 Molex plugs for IDE drives, sound cards, add-in PCI cards, SD card readers, USB hubs, fan controllers, LED lighting strips, cathodes, water pumps, or any other hardware you have that needs a 4-pin Molex plug. This adapter is perfect for newer computers with modular power supplies. My computer has several hard drives and I was able to wire them all up with SATA connectors from my PSU. Unfortunately my case's fan controller and ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card required Molex plugs for power. Rather than having to plug in a long modular Molex cable to my PSU and find a place to hide the wires I plugged this adapter into an open SATA lead and had the 2 Molex plugs I needed for my hardware. It made wiring a lot easier and got rid of the extra, unnecessary modular cable from my PSU.My only wish is that the adapter had either black sleeving over the wires (or black wires) and black Molex plugs. However, it's simply an aesthetic thing and can be changed if you have the tools and sleeving to do so. I just hid the wires behind my motherboard tray so it's out of sight. The leads are only a few inches long on this adapter so be sure to buy a Molex extension cable if you need to reach hardware in other places (add-in PCI cards, etc.).If you need to split a SATA power lead into 2 Molex plugs, this is exactly what you're looking for. It's inexpensive and gets the job done.

WORKS PERFECTLY for powering USB 3.0 card
I used this in combination with a SATA power splitter to provide power to a USB 3.0 card in a client's Optiplex 360 mini-tower. The Dell Optiplex 360 does not have ANY spare power connectors if 2 optical drives and 2 hard drives are installed. I didn't see any 4 pin power connectors. To get access to a SATA power connector I used a AFUNTA 6-Inch Sata Power Y Splitter to split the power off one of the optical drives and it worked perfectly too!Male SATA power connector was an appropriately snug fit. The 4 pin Molex connectors plugged in securely. That USB 3.0 card does not work at all without the additional power. Since it worked perfectly this cable was a complete success. The connectors are well made. The SATA connector is molded and solid. The 4 pin molex connectors look well made and I've seen others that were quite rough by comparison. As this is apparently well made and works perfectly, so 5 stars for the Manhatan splitter/adapter.

Worked like a charm
My computer does not have any Molex power connectors (Dell 9100) and all of my SATA power connectors were in use, so I purchased this and StarTech.com PYO2SATA 6in SATA Power Y Splitter Cable Adapter - M/F and I now have two working Molex power connectors without giving up any SATA power connectors.I pulled the SATA power connector out of my DVD drive (as I seldom use it anyway, so any power requirements from my Molex devices would unlike be negatively affected) and put that plug into the SATA splitter. I put one of the other ends of the SATA splitter into my DVD drive and the other end into this Molex splitter and everthing is working as expected.

Very Handy - a must!
Item well packaged and protected. Arrived timely and reasonably priced. An item all computer builders should place in their cable parts bin. My server has a normal SAS/SATA RAID 5 Hot-Swap Backplane, so the four SATA connectors which come standard on Power Supply Units (psu) were not required. However, two 4-pin molex psu connectors were, as they feed power to the backplane, leaving a shortage of 4-pin Molex connectors. To the rescue came this product, which feeds the SATA 0 SSD and SATA 5 cd/dvd on server. Highly recommend item and Seller.

Typical Molex Connector Pins
I really had no significant problems with this connector. My headline and comments are only a reflection of the Molex connector design. As you all know, the metal pins are secured in the plastic connector and sometimes if the barbs aren't flared open enough, the pin will push back in its hole. This type of correction isn't a big deal, just flare the barb a tiny bit and reseat the pin. Appeals to my sense of hobby! Guess that's why we're using the SATA 15-pin connectors these days!

Works, but it's injection molded
The cable split from sata to 2x molex works as intended, but beware - the sata connector is plastic injection molded. These connectors have a reputation of catching fire due to the injection molding process, where the cables have a chance of being set too close to each other and causing an arc, melting and catching the plastic on fire.
