Works When Installed Properly + Tons of Other Info...
Okay.... during my research on filter adapter options for my P510, I came across a lot of conflicting info regarding whether this item works, how it's installed, and even a debate as to whether one could screw ANYTHING on to the front of the camera's lens in the first place. I'll answer all the questions I had and hopefully save you a whole lot of time/effort...1) Yes, you can screw something (this thing specifically) on to the front of the lens. Although only designed to hold the standard lens cap there are in fact, several small areas with grooves in front of the lens. These grooves were clearly created by a device similar to a tapping tool, simply because you CAN screw this adapter in and tighten it down.2) INSTALLATION... In one video I saw on YouTube, someone extended the zoom lens and pressed this (or similar) adapter on to the front of the camera. DON'T DO THIS. The threads I mentioned above, although they will accept the adapter weren't really designed to. The threading does not encircle the entire circumference of the lens therefore pressing this down onto the camera, will only damage them and eventually make them useless should you decide to remove and reinstall this adapter more than a few times. To install, simply lineup the adapter in front of the lens and screw it down until it makes contact. Then, just snug it down slightly and resist the urge to really tighten it a lot. Once it's on, I recommend that it stay on.3) Does it work? Yes. The first filter I installed on the front of the adapter was a 67mm clear UV filter to protect the lens and accept other filters such as a variable ND, polarizer, and some effects filters. Please note that once the adapter and UV filter were in place the standard lens cap no longer fits. Therefore, if you order this plan on ordering a larger lens cap that will fit the the filters installed in the front. For me I had to order one 67mm lens cap (for the UV and most other filters), and a 72mm lens cap for when I'm using the variable ND filter.4) Will it damage my camera and/or does it cause the zoom motor to malfunction? No and no. After screwing the adapter on the front of the lens and turning the camera on and off many many times, I can confidentially state that although the back of the adapter does make contact with the camera's lens housing when shutting down, it has not caused any adverse effects or malfunctions.Other considerations... so I screwed in the UV filter and I'm leaving it there permanently. That filter needs to be tight into adapter so that when I put another filter in front of it and decide to remove it, I don't inadvertently loosen the UV filter. Furthermore, great care needs to be taken not to loosen not only the UV filter but also the adapter from the camera when removing additional filters. To prevent this from happening, any filter that gets put in front of the UV filter needs to be only slightly snug (not full-on tight), and you need to be doubly sure to only grasp the filter you want to remove. What filters/lens caps did I buy?(1) NEEWER® 67mm ND Fader Neutral Density Adjustable Variable Filter (ND2 to ND400)(1) CowboyStudio 72mm Center Pinch Snap-on Lens Cap for Nikon Lens Replaces LC 72 - Includes Lens Cap Holder (fits the filter above)(1) Polaroid Optics 67mm 3 Piece Special Effect Camera/Camcorder Lens Filter Kit (Soft Focus, Revolving 4 Point Star, Warming)(1) Polaroid Optics 67mm 3 Piece Filter Set (UV, CPL, FLD)(1) CowboyStudio 67mm Center Pinch Snap-on Lens Cap for Nikon Lens Replaces LC 67 - Includes Lens Cap Holder (fits all the filters in the two kits above)All of the above were purchased from Amazon, were relatively inexpensive, for the $$$ work very well, and fit this adapter flawlessly.I hope this answers all your questions. :)

Be aware! WARNING !!!!! Please read before purchasing
I just ordered this item because it was listed on the Amazon site. When I saw that the shipping would take about a month I checked to see where in the world Gadget Place was located. The address is an air force base in NIGERIA. Now, I start a careful watch of my credit card billings.24 December. After watching my credit cards carefully after placing this order I have now had to cancel the card used for the original purchase of this item. The typical phishing and feel-out orders ($1 to Amazon on a day we did not use the computer. An unknown order to another warehouse came today.) Needless to say, I cannot warn more strongly against using this company. Oh! I am still waiting for the shipment to arrive but delivery date was 8-21 January.31 December. Item arrived yesterday with a return address of K.C. Chan, PO Box xxx, Fo Tan Post Office, Hong Kong. The customs declaration is stamped, "Lens/adaptor No Commercial Value." Because my credit card had an unknown charge by Amazon in Hong Kong, I had the card de-activated and replaced. I talked to a Nikon representative today and they do not "want" these adapters used because they fear extra weight and possible bumping when the lens is extended for telephoto that could result in the lens coming off track and being stuck. The adapter pictured is a 58mm adapter which the company also sells. The 67mm adapter is obviously much larger and not a smooth looking when mounted.Edited 19 Apr 2014WARNING !!! The Nikon Cool Pix P520 is so sensitive to "lens error" that the weight of this adapter plus a filter will cause your camera to quit working. Once "lens error" starts to happen the ONLY FIX is to send the camera back to Nikon and pray that it is covered. In some cases it will be cheaper to buy new.

STill and All, EXCELLENT!!!
This is the lens and filter adapter for my Nikon P520 that I had been looking for! And an excellent one indeed. It is light and fits snugly into the lens thread; and slides in and out with the lens without interfering with its wide angle or telephoto reach unlike the tube adapter that I used to have which was constantly creating a lens error!I tried it also with a 10X macro lens, quite heavy by itself, but it carries the weight with ease.I appreciate very much the extra notice from the seller, MC Chan from Hong Kong, that delivery may be delayed! Actually, the merchandise arrived earlier than schedule! That notice shows respect for customer. The packaging has much to desire- it came only in a regular little envelope with tiny bubbles....I give it that the adapter is made of strong material but still, a customer feels more comfortable if his order were packaged more carefully.

Great way to fix a filter on a Nikon without threads!
I finally got around to upgrading my Nikon 8800. Got a new Nikon P 520, which uses a newer chip, and has a lot of the features I like. But it had one feature I do not care for. That is a lack of filter threads on the front of the lens. My kids are grown up and I have never developed an interest is sticky fingerprints on lens. So camera needed filter adapter that would allow a filter on it. Which I jumped on. It goes on easily seems to be firmly in place and does what is needed. Well designed, realistic price, good delivery time and it does what I bought it for.

Happy I purchased it
I purchased the adapter ring for my Nikon Coolpix P510 so that I could use the necessary filters required to take photos in certain conditions, i.e., avoid bright sunlight which causes "burnout", avoid "marsh mellow" sky, etc. I had purchased the tube-type adapter, but that caused problems with taking photos and the little screws came out of the tube and were lost and it proved cumbersome. I really like this Photo Plus Adapter Ring. The adapter ring screws right onto the end of the lens (which does have a screw mount) and the filters screw onto the ring. It acts more like adding filters to the lens of a DSLR.
