Its okay
The story line is okay and the educational side is good. But this is NOT cluefinders. The character voices have changed and they sound like they're five! These kids are in 7th grade, just look in laptrap(yellow box with eyes, he's a robotic computer) and you can see their grade level. It is not good, it gets boring and the character personalities are all wrong. I'm comparing this to the other cluefinder games like 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, Math, Reading(originally called The Mystery of the Missing Amulet), and Search & Solve. Mystery Mansion Arcade has all these issues too. This isn't that good and I don't recommend this. If you want to play good cluefinder games, go with the older ones(noted above).

Won't Install
We tried installing this on a G5 iMac on OSX 10.5.8. It would not install. It keeps force quitting. My husband actually specializes in Macs for a living as a Network Administrator so if it was possible, he'd have gotten it to work. Out $7.65 or whatever it was.

Education vs. Fun
As I sat down with my niece to "play" this game I was struck by how interesting it was that software manufacturers could actually use games that are fun to help teach kids (and I dare say adults) and add to the education that children are receiving. This game was fun for us both because it helped my niece to recognize patterns, follow sentence structure, taught general mathematics in the elevator and showed that in the end you can have fun while learning.I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who has a child in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade. However, you will need to sit down with them to help them figure out what exactly they need to do. The only reason I gave this product a 4 star rating instead of a 5 is that in one part of the game, the player is required to map out routes on a computer screen and it was very difficult for my niece to grasp. I believe that they set out to teach the player something they hadn't covered in school and it went above my niece's knowledge level.Otherwise, this game is a very good educational tool and yes, we "both" had fun playing it.

The other games are better
I played just about every game in the ClueFinders series as a pre- and early teen. This was the last one to be released, and unfortunately, it's just not as good as the other titles. Most importantly, the activities are much weaker -- they are less engaging (I can't even remember some of them), and there is no good way to automatically set the levels in the game to the appropriate difficulty for the kid. Every time you play through the adventure, you must either manually set the levels via LapTrap or start over at level one, a serious problem for slightly older kids who will quickly get bored with the easier levels. I also remember noticing some bugs where the sound cut out at the main screen -- the other titles all played almost flawlessly.Another point: though kids who aren't already fans of the series may not care, the actors who voiced the ClueFinders were replaced in this game (maybe the original kids were sounding too old?). The new voices are clearly supposed to be similar, but I found them noticeably different and thus very jarring. If you love the ClueFinders, you may want to buy this game anyway -- the storyline is on par with the rest of the series. Otherwise, I suggest buying one or more of the other ClueFinders games first. (3rd Grade Adventures, which introduces the characters, is an excellent introduction to the series.)
