********** Deserves 10 stars
I'd give it ten stars. We have a couple dogs, one being a black lab, Laydee, now 10 years old.For at least the last 7 or 8 years, we have been feeding her Blue Buffalo thinking it was a top quality product - we were using it before the commercials! Though she had it lightly throughout the year, ever since we can remember, come late fall through winter, she would have mad dandruff and itchy skin; it was disgusting and we felt so bad for her scratching ALL the time - she would wake us up nightly doing it too. We would spend hundreds of dollars on supplements (omegas, etc.) and medicated shampoos from the vet to try and combat it; nothing ever worked. We gave up and simply concluded that we have to have her groomed every other or third week. The expenses kept stacking up and it never really solved the problem.Fast forward to the present, we got a new Frenchie that has always had the runs. Failed remedies of that problem led us to look for a new food. Researching brought us to selecting Ultramix for our first try of something new.We were about 4 months acclimated to the new food, now at the end of November, when we laughably, suddenly realized that we haven't groomed Laydee in over 2 months. Her coat is absolutely stunning. It is so shiny that it looks wet and there has not been a single flake. We can't believe it and I'm sure Laydee is thrilled, she doesn't scratch at all. AMAZING!The product costs a few bucks more than Blue, but I'd pay a lot more for it if we had to (please don't raise the price though). Either way, we are saving so much money on supplements and too frequent visits to the groomer.Read the ingredients, they say it all and they certainly don't skimp on the good stuff in there, you can see it - dried bananas, cranberries, etc.Of course the dogs love it too!Ps. Frenchie still has the runs, but we've discovered that it's not the food but a bad habit of hers. She loves food so much, she eats it twice! Yuk (any suggestions?).

Beware - health hazard to dogs!
Thought this was a quality product, however my healthy dog began drinking huge amounts of water after I started feeding this food. Although it wasn't warm out and the vet couldn't find a reason, I chalked it up to the dog being elderly. On the 2nd bag, the dog had 2 overnight peeing accidents in the house, even though he might be elderly, this had only happened one other time in 13 years. The large water intake didn't coincide before the overnight accidents either and it wasn't due to bladder infection. I went back and read some of the negative reviews on this food and sure enough, others mentioned large water intake and bladder issues with their dogs. Obviously some kind of quality issue with this food - NOT GETTING WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR OR ARE INTENDING TO FEED YOUR PET. * Beware * Switched my dog back to our original food and normal water intake again, so something is not right with this food and it wasn't just in one bag.

3 tails waggin'
this is a good brand name dog food at an excellent price. I ended up buying 3 bags to keep the kiddoes in chow for awhile. It gets 4 of 5 stars from Dog Adviser. This is what Dog Adviser's bottom line is on this particular food: "Castor and Pollux Natural Ultramix is a plant-based dry dog food using a moderate amount of chicken or lamb meals as its main sources of animal protein, thus earning the brand 4 stars.Highly recommended." That is a great score for dog food at such a great price. Smaller bags are running more expensive than this size. And it isn't out of date either. The dogs like the food too, which is also important. By the way, one other thing that I like about this bag of food, is that it is in a sealed plastic bag, so you don't have to be concerned with spoilage or bugs.

Do NOT buy!!
Do not buy this food. Something went terribly wrong. Four of my dogs eat the same food. A "large" bag of dog food doesn't last those girls a week. So, I buy 10-12 bags at a time.Since they've been on this food, they haven't been the same. It started with soft poo. I didn't just have regular fecals done, that go to the labratory, I have the test done that checks for the DNA of issues within the fecal samples. What the biggest issue has been, is what has presented itself as kidney failure. Started with one. Went to the second, then, in the same day, happened to two others. In the beginning, the one, then the second, had a specialist use an ultrasound to collect a cysto. Extensive blood work was done. Full body X-rays, too. We were able to determine something was wrong with the diet. I think I was sent tainted/expired food. It's cost me a fortune, and has caused my dogs to feel the need to CONSTANTLY drink, which has turned into a continuous need to go outside.

Our "boys" love this food - and so do we!
We have been feeding our two, big healthy Labs C&P Natural Ultramix for about four years. We did our "due diligence" research to find the highest quality dry dog food we could get that was not totally outrageous in price with the additional stipulation that it be availabile in Amazon's Subscribe and Save program. The results - our "boys" are enthusiastic fans! They have beautiful coats that garner frequent compliments, they rarely if ever scratch. They are bright, active and engaged and I believe that this high quality kibble has much to do with that. About a year ago, for some reason, the price of this food went way up, on Amazon and other sites as well. We are not sure if this was due to a shortage, or other issues. As a result, we decided to try a Blue Buffalo product. Let me say that I am sure tha BB is a great product and that I'd gives good results for many dogs. That being said, our boys quickly seemed to be REALLY hungry, all the time, even though we were feeding the same amount of kibble. They also, almost immediately, seemed to start having dry, itchy skin issues. After a month or so, the Castor and Pollox went back down, and we switched back and these two issued quickly disappeared. Conclusion - we love the fact that we can feed our boys a high quality food, that they obviously love without breaking the bank!
