Item Package Quantity:1 Product Description In 1993, the Lebanese government ordered the destruction of illicit cannabis plantations but did not suggest alternative crops to farmers, leaving them out of pocket and without a livelihood. A French department (l'Oise) stepped in and assisted the local farmers in planting vines. The Cooperative has 220 members and cultivates about 240 hectares. The Cooperative usually sells its crops to high profile wineries, but since 2007 had started to put some of the harvest aside to make its own wine in order to grow the brand's profile and have a more regular source of income. Winemaking consultant and coop member Diana Salameh, has created a great blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and local Caladoc which demonstrate perfectly how Lebanese wine is a force to reckon with.
