Did a great job.
Last year we used a garbage disposal for grinding our apples, it kept over heating and is a dangerous way to deal with them. It took us all night. This was super in comparison. We were able to grind enough apples for 50 gallons of cider in no time. I did have a couple of really large apples get wedged in the hopper if a full bucket was dumped in but it was easily cleared without having to take the hopper back off. Clean up was fairly easy other than the reversible blades are very sharp, be careful. Also, you can't just hose off the bottom half because the motor would get wet so some care is needed there. These are not Cons, just things to be aware of. It was much quieter than I was expecting it to be which was also nice.

Feed hopper and all welding are of excellent quality. Should last for years
Well built apple grinder. Feed hopper and all welding are of excellent quality. Should last for years. Does an excellent job of grinding the apples and dropping them into a 5 gal. bucket. Unit will grind the apples just about as fast as you can pour them in. I haven't had any issues with clogging it up.

Great job at prepping apples for pressing onto cider
Actually I would rate it at 4 1/2 stars, but that was not an option. Great job at prepping apples for pressing onto cider. Plenty of power; very fast, safe and efficient. Very high juice yield when pressing the pomace. Would have given it 5 stars except the gasket between the grinder and the removable chute is too thin. This results in minor leakage making cleanup a bit more tedious.

It works - but with caveats.
First - I think the guys at Pleasant Hill Grain are great, they to have spare parts for this grinder too if you ask. And they import his thing from China. Its half the cost of the Zambelli original, but it costs the same as the (better) Speidel grinder including shipping. Seidel isn't all Stainless though. Spare parts - how are you going to replace the knives? You can sharpen them because of the imbalance that would create ?But - The pulp isn't fine enough. And - the safety guards that are in the chute are a pain, because you can't just fill up the funnel. It will clog if you do that. So it's apple by apple, or, you grind out the safety guards. The pulp not being fine enough is a problem of the knife setup. Look at the Speidel Grinder knife. This knife is set up too simple. It sometimes throughs out apple slices. However, it grinds very fast - a second an apple. So - my solution to that is that I grind the pulp again. However, knowing this - I would've bought the Speidel.Regarding the safety guards - I have not taken mine out - yet - but my arm is in that chute more often than I like trying to unclog the funnel. I had to take the grinder apart at least 3 times grinding 20 bushels of apples because I could not get the apples to slide down.

Works awesome when it comes to shredding apples for pressing
Works awesome when it comes to shredding apples for pressing. But if you put the apples in the top to fast (like pouring out of a box or bucket) the apples will get clogged in the shoot. It shreds the apples as fast as they get to the shredder part.
