It works very well with the ball head. I always like to have an extra to have on a second camera. And it met that need.

I purchased this quick release plate for a second camera body because I have the Slik Pro 700DX tripod with a ball head that requires the round quick release plate. It is solid and well built but makes an already heavy tripod/ball head combo even heaver. I have since purchased a light weight carbon fiber tripod for travel and have relegated the Slik combo to location work. They work as long as the ball head is well adjusted. If your ball head adjustment isn't spot on the round design allows the camera to rotate relative to the ball head and slip when used in the portrait configuration. I like my Slik tripod as it is very solid and stable but I am contemplating changing out my head for one that takes a rectangular quick release plate like Manfrotto, Swiss Arca, etc.

Great to attach to different cameras spotting scopes ... for vary fast swapping on my SLIK tripod.

Like the newer design. Inner screw to tighten was an improvement.
