Saved the day
It was the sort of day that gives Smokey the Bear nightmares; warm, windy, and it hadn't rained in two months. I was busy doing some yard work, admiring my two-year supply of firewood (neatly stacked against my house), the cedar shingles just installed on my roof, and the nice row of eucalyptus trees nearby. Suddenly I noticed that there was a hint of smoke in the air. Turning around I saw a plume, growing thick and black like one of those snake things you light on fourth of July. Then it dawned on me - that fire was heading right for my $2,000,000 home! I called 911, but who knows if help would come on time? I tried to start my lawn sprinkler system, but I threw out the manual three years ago and couldn't reprogram the timing. Then I remembered that my two kids took a hike down the trail to the pond, a half mile away! I was about to try and get them but my insurance agent called to say that they were cancelling my policy! The fire crested the ridge, and I could see a wall of flames about to engulf all my hopes and dreams. At that moment three trucks rolled in. The yellow one off-loaded an ATV which raced to pick up my kids, and the yellow one set up a hose lay around my property. I'm not sure what the orange one did, but it had an antenna and played some good thematic music. The firefighters were considering evacuating us, but then a helicopter came, using a bucket to knock down the fire. The fire engines used their hoses to put out the spot fires that landed in my yard. The UTV came back with both my kids safe and sound. THANKS MATCHBOX BRUSH FIRE RESCUE!

How the children liked it
Two grandbabies love playing with them on Christmas morning. They had a blast zooming them all around on my hardwood floors ha ha
