Hitler's Raketen U-Boote (Rocket Submarines), the True Story of the Steinhoff Brothers and the Nazi's First Submarine Launched Missiles: The Untold New England U-Boat Saga and Murder Mystery

A technical read. No fluff... Just the facts!
This book is part biographical tale of two German brothers, one a U-boat commander and the other a rocket scientist, who collaborated on the development of the first submarine launched missile in history, successfully doing so 15 years before the United States. It is also a technical account of the development of a secret Nazi weapon system that would have attacked New York City with V-1 and V-2 type missiles carried and towed by U-boats in the final days of World War II. This is a true story that I had never heard about, even as a student of naval and military history. It is a strange tale of how those brothers both ended up in Boston after Germany's surrender, one voluntarily and the other as a prisoner of war. You can tell the author is an attorney by his analytical approach toward solving what includes a murder mystery regarding the death of the U-boat commander while in the custody pf American naval intelligence personnel after surrendering his submarine at Portsmouth, NH. This is an incredible, true tale, much of which takes place on American soil, primarily in New England. I highly recommend this book to any military history buff who is interested in naval history, U-boats, ballistic missile submarines, and German secret weapons of WWII.

Good Quick WWII Read
This book contains a lot of interesting and detailed information describing how the WWII Germans launched the first missiles from submerged submarines, and how they also envisioned building a sub-towed V2 ballistic missile launch platform to attack U.S. cities, although that plan was unrealized by the end of the war.
