The Claude Bernard StoryThe place where Jurassic watch making startedIn the mid-16th century, the 27-yearold Frenchman John Calvin broke with the Roman Catholic Church and fled to Geneva, Switzerland. Numerous French Huguenots followed him.As a result of religious policies Calvin banned all jewelry, such as beads, bracelets, gold and gemstones. Consequently, goldsmiths and jewelers were forced to turn to a new craft - watchmaking. It was the perfect thing to do for these highly skilled artisans. Many of them moved north from Geneva and master mechanic Claude Bernard was one of them. He discovered the gorgeous, almost divine, high-plateau in the midst of the Jura headlands, a secluded mountain-range along the French border. As a tribute to his hometown Geneva (French Genève) he called this charming hideout “Les Genevez”. Most of the year Claude Bernard, like most of his companions, farmed to feed himself and his family. But during the long and harsh winter months, when the landscapes vanished under heavy snow and the brooks were covered with ice, Claude and his fellow craftsmen created watch masterpieces. The mechanics and skillful builders started to reinvent the workings of all kinds of timepieces. The original 16th century house where these skilled artisans used to gather and share their tools and ideas still exists. It has been carefully restored and today serves as a public museum. Swiss watch manufacturer Claude Bernard is honored to be a patron of the more than 450-year-old institution, which is so closely related to their own history. Brave innovators with ground breaking ideas were the reason why “Les Genevez in the Jura” was labelled the “birthplace of Swiss watchmaking in the northeast of Switzerland” and a pioneer of highly acclaimed Swiss quality and ingenuity. Today, the professional watchmakers working for Claude Bernard, the Swiss watch factory in “Les Genevez - Le centre du Jura”, are still filled with pride of their heritage and eager to make the finest wrist watches money can buy. Stainless steel case with a brown leather strap. Fixed stainless steel bezel. White dial with silver-tone hands and stick hour markers. Minute markers around the outer rim.

Great Dress Watch for the Price
Tissot is under the Swatch Group. The movement in this automatic watch is the same as that used in many of the Omega wrist watches and at a fraction of the price. The watch comes in a large box with instructions, manuals and other promotional materials. The watch itself is stainless steel and the perfect size for a man's wrist without seeming too large. I would advise viewing other pictures on line of this watch as in person, while resembling the product picture here, it is thicker and appears a little different when you understand the depth. The band it comes with is brown and appears to be very high quality. I purchased a black band to put on it as I plan to wear with my suits and tux and wanted a matching band. You can get a variety of bands for this watch to change the flavor. So far I am very satisfied with this timepiece. It is a great looking timepiece and for the money (on sale big time on Amazon and other sites) it really makes me wonder why anyone would buy a battery watch from other watch makers when they can get something this nice. An automatic watch for under $400 is really nice!

A Beautiful Time Piece!
Tissot has produced a nice watch in this item. The size fits the regular wrist. The overall look of the watch is beautiful and the white colour of the dial emphasizes the 'hands' of the watch. The leather strap is flexible, gentle on the skin and of very high quality. The deployment buckle is great but requires a little getting used to. Overall, a great watch that is worth the price.

No Tissot warranty and will eventually break.
Day of week stopped working after 8 months. Seller (Watch your wrist) is impossible to get in contact with (phone or email) in order to file a warranty claim. You do not get a Tissot warranty with this watch (only authorized Tissot sellers get that) and instead have to depend on the seller so make sure the seller is reputable and will honor what 3rd party warranty they have.Overall watch is OK. Band is cheap and will start to get pretty raggedy about 2 months in. I have worn this watch for 8 months every day. Now that the day of week isn't working I wear it only about once a week. I would expect this watch's functions to deteriorate further with more use.Do not buy this watch if you expect it to be in your collection for more than a year. Buy it if you view a $400 watch as disposable.

Amazing
I think the problem is that most people don't know about Tissot. I was one of those people until two weeks ago. I did the research and found out more about them and then came across this deal I could not resist. The watch itself is beautiful. I've had it less then a week and I've gotten endless compliments. The band though is a little hard to get used too. But that's something you can change. I'm also not completely sold on the gator skin like leather. But I didnt buy the watch for the band. It's a beautiful time piece and for the price a steal, considering the internals are shared with more expensive watches. I bought this watch with the intention that it will last me a while, and I can see it doing just that.It is simple and yet elegant, everything I was looking for in an automatic watch. I'll upload some pics once I can!Update:I lowered a star because of the following situation. The strap is NOT genuine leather. After a week of wear, i started to get allergic reaction to the band. I've had multiple leather watches over the past, so I wondered why it was now that i'm having a reaction. I noticed that all my other leather watches had the words "genuine leather" written on them, this did not. So I took it to a local jewelers and they said they believed it to be leather on the outside of the strap and either suede or cork on the inside. Putting the cork on the inside makes the strap last longer. But it certainly did not do well on my wrist. So i replaced it for a solid smooth leather strap right on the spot (the stainless steel strap looks ugly IMO) instead of replacing it. The jeweler said he had seen leather strapped tissot watches before, and those had genuine leather written on them when they were genuine leather. So just as a buyer beware, plan on getting another strap if you have sensitive skin.

Tissot watch happy customer
Excellent watch, exactly what I had ordered. Jomashop delivered the watch right on time and it was exactly what they had advertised on their web site. Only had the watch for a couple of weeks and seems to keep good time, fits well on my wrist, overall very happy with this purchase

A terrible strap!
I love the watch, but the strap is a pain. The latch on the stap is not well conceived; if I make loose, the watch is not tight enough on my wrist, if I tighten the latch it is very hard to pull the watch over my hand. Is there an alternative strap?

It’s good watch. I had a Tissot watch a long ...time.
It’s good watch. I had a Tissot watch a long time ago when I received it as a wedding present. The automatic watch is good but I have having trouble to work the day and date. The manual is not good enough to explain. Perhaps I should have bought it from a jeweler who could have helped. This is the trouble of buying complex items online.I wrote the above just after buying it. Now in two years,, the watch is useless. I need to spend more than I paid to get it fixed.. Never buy a watch in Amazon!

Automatic with see-through case back, luminated hands also with day-date, deployment buckle... Those are only available on high end Swiss watches but they are all on this very good deal 400 bucks watch, also from Swiss. I love this one!
