Really moves the air
In the open air you can hear the fan. However, we must highlight the fan really moves thecair! We are happy with fan performance overall. For our application we will keep an eye out for a four inch fan that is quieter and moves similar air, while also looking for one that is rated for continuous duty. We want to stress our use case is not an air bilge pump... as an air bilge this fan should be fantastic!!

It moves a lot of air
I bought this blower to move clean air (sawdust free) to my breathing area when operating a small bandsaw mill. I used 4" corrugated black tubing as a suction and discharge line, sucking in clean air away from the dusty discharge off the mill and blowing it toward my face. It works well. I don't have to wear a mask and a side benefit is it keeps me cooler when it's hot. The blower is noisy but no where near as noisy as the mill.

Powerful for a 4” blower!
We just installed this today. Works great! Has a powerful suction to it. Noise level isn’t bad at all. I do hear it but it’s not bothersome and I like being able to hear my blowers on before I start the boat but of course you can’t hear it over our motors or the generator running. Real easy to install. All it took was 2 screws for mounting and connecting 2 wires together. Very simple!! Don’t know anything about it being water resistant. It’s in our motor compartment so if water gets to the blower I have SERIOUS ISSUES and hope my boat insurance pays good!! I only gave the water resistance a 3 star because I just don’t know...

Loud, but powerful.
A bit loud, but very effective and should make good shower/head exhaust vents. I am converting this skoolie and I have the head/shower room in the rear. Blowers exhaust through the warning light bezels with vent dampers to keep bugs out when not in use. Reliability has yet to be verified, but they seem to be a pretty good value.

Great buy
Item was as describes and has a strong motor and blows much more air than I was expecting

Good product so far.
As intended. It would be nice if the unit had a flow directional arrow on it from the factory. Had to hook it up to verify direction but no big deal.

If you have the Rule blowers get these
I have the rule blowers, and they're awful. Two jet engines in the engine room. I read another review on the attwoods saying that they were good and these were better. I agree. The Rule blowers are dinosaurs. These are modern fans. They're not continuous duty, and there is some noise, but if you're coming from the Rule blowers, these move more air at a FRACTION of the noise. They're not laptop computer quiet, but with the engine hatch closed, you'll probably have to check your switch or put your hand on the outlet to see if they're on.

Moves a Lot of Air -- Not a Bit Quiet
Granted I bought this fan for an alternative use, making a custom carbon air filter where I needed a quiet in-line blower fan that could move 270cfm or so. But what I found was this fan motor is definitely not the "ultra-quiet" it is so heavily advertised as. With ambient 42 decibels I measured this fan at full bore 12.1v, 54w, a screaming 91db. It's easily as loud as a hair dryer. It moves a lot of air and if its buried in your boat's engine room you probably wont notice much but if you're looking for a truly quiet blower fan you might look elsewhere. On the plus side it does move a lot of air, in fact I measured 520cfm, almost double what was advertised. This was with no ducts connected which probably improves air speed from their measurements.
