For incandescent mags
This is only for incandescent mags. I have a LED PRO mag lite and it doesn’t fit because the housing is too long (The “tower” that the metal bulb holder slides into is too long) and it has an incandescent bulb holder. However, I knew this before buying it. I was able to take the switch guts out of the new housing and install them in my original housing. Works perfect and fixed my problem!

Switch works and is about 1/2 price of a new Maglite at $16
The cost of a new 2 or 3 cell Mag flashlight is anywhere from $20 to $35. The switch costs about $16. How does it go in? You follow the instructions included or simply remove the bezel assembly from the light end, unscrew chrome ring and bulb, remove the end cap and batteries, and pop off the rubber button cover. Use the hex wrench included -the long one - to loosen but not remove the set screw until the switch assembly will slide out. You will need to depress the switch to remove and install. Slide the new switch in from the end using a straw, rod, or screwdriver handle. Line up the screw and tighten down the new switch set screw using the SHORT hex wrench. The original hex set screw is different from the one on the new switch. Pop the rubber cap using the NEW one included in the kit.Why bother? It does give you a new/renewed Mag flashlight at a decent price. The other reason is that I find nonworking Mag flashlights at thrift stores constantly for very little money.

Received item different than what is pictured
The item I received was not what was pictured, no tools came with it, and it was too large to fit inside the Maglite body. It seems that the part I need may have been discontinued and what I got was sent in its place. Unfortunately, its not the same and does not work. The picture is misleading because that's not what you'll get.

Replacement switch
This switch saved my Maglite flashlight. I was about to throw it away after the switch broke. Then I decided to check Amazon to see if a replacement switch was available. There was! The company shipped promptly and the switch came with complete instructions and was easy to install. It save this flashlight and it has been working well since I installed it. Thanks!

OEM Mag-Lite Switch Assembly
It's an OEM D-Cell Mag-Lite switch. Not much to say here.I was given a 2 D-cell Mag-Lite missing a switch by a friend of mine, purchased this part, and popped it in. Works perfectly. The quality is what you'd expect from Mag-Lite.I really like that this kit includes both the 5/64 hex key AND the T8 star driver. It'll make it possible to service other Mag-Lites in the future. To anyone considering buying this, this is one of the cheaper places to purchase a switch assembly—I received mine for about $14 with shipping.

Bad and new switch both have a torx set screw. I recieved a 5/64th allen
I removed the old one with a left handed drill bit. Long story short I now have 2 broken switches because all my T8 work were a tad bit to wide to fit in the opening.

Good luck!
Buyer Beware. With the new Maglite D Cell batteries, you will need a T8 Torx key to remove the old switch assembly and replace it with the new one. As pictured in the product image, the switch assembly is supposed to come with a 5/64 hex key and a T8 Torx key. It did not (at least from the seller that I purchased it from). So unless you have a T8 torx key (that is really skinny - enough to be able to fit in the little hole in the switch assembly), you won't be able to get the old switch assembly out and the new one in. There are threads online regarding this issue as Maglite changed the hex key-compatible assembly to a torx-compatible assembly a few years ago which has complicated everyone's life. Do your due diligence! Good luck!

Doesn't include required tool
Didn't include the required wrench and I couldn't find one thin enough anywhere else. Returned it without any issues.
