Fantastic tool for pulling logs. Very strong grip - sharp teeth hold logs well. No need to pound on them, just a light strike with a hammer will do. Be careful not to damage the stretch washer that holds teeth. It is built for hard work, heavy steel, all parts strong and good quality. Very pleased with the purchase.

These are great. I have them hooked up to a custom made lift/drag attachment on my 3pt hitch of my 30hp compact tractor and they work awesome. They hold really well and disengage easily with just a little kick of your boot once you take the pressure off the end of the tree. These are much beefier than some of the ones you see that say "up to 17inch". Those are too small for anything other than fence posts. I can skid 24"dia trees up to about 16" long and these reach and hold each side easily. I have lifted one end of, and dragged,logs that weigh over 5000lbs. I would highly recommend.

The washers didn't last long had to weld the teeth on but otherwise great product. I'm still using it to move trees after hurricane Michael.

I was planning on making my own from two large pry bars, but the cost of the materials alone would be almost the same as buying these.As the other reviews point out, the two teeth are held in place with clips. I can see how these would fly off if you were to set the teeth with a hammer. I am planning on welding them but so far I havent had to use a hammer to set them as they bite just fine.I pulled a dozen large 8-12 foot red oaks behind a back hoe loader with these and they work very well. You do have to be careful that they dont twist, but for at this price point you wont find anything better.

Works great, very sturdy. BUT one of the c-clips that retains spike in the arm disappeared on the third pull. Other than that it worked perfect for an afternoon of dragging logs out of our forest. If not for the c-clip it would be 5.0

Bought this for my husband after a cheaper pair had broke and almost hit him in the head. The thickness of the equipment feels much more sturdy and safe. He has gotten a lot of use pulling logs with all this horrible winter weather we have been having.

I'm giving these skidding tong 2 stars because of their functional ability.The product itself is made well; strong hook, strong steel bars, and strong sharp points. I pulled 30' long 28" diameter oak with it no problem.HOWEVER, skidding tongs sucks. It's a nearly a two person job to pull logs with these. Maybe the biggest issue is the jaws aren't spring loaded.. Either way, you have to get the tongs to stick in to the tree before you walk away. If it's not well seated, it'll fall off. Next problem; you can start off pulling on any sort of angle. If you start on any sort of angle, the jaws won't equally apply force for a good clamp on the tongs, and again, they fall off. It would be impractical to have to hammer the points in each time i connect to a log, and also be completely in line with it when i first start pulling to get them seated well without falling off.So in reality, i looked at these things like they were the answer to my needs, but quickly found out they're far form the best option for skidding logs. Don't get me wrong, once they're hooked in, they don't come out. But they're just a pain to get hooked and seat when you're a single person dragging logs with a vehicle. I was all excited to get these. Got them, hooked up a few logs, and just ran in to all the issues described above. So after a hand full of logs i threw them in the back of the truck and found a way better alternative.Your best option is to use a choker cable or chain. I personally just grabbed on old thick chain and a D-Ring hook and made a slip choker out of it. Works great and is way cheaper. I have a cant hook to roll/life huge logs to get the chain under if i need, but they make choker chains with a small bent metal rod on the end to slip under the log and pull the chain thru, which is very easy to do in the woods/leaves/dirt. You choke the log and you're set. You can drag it 180 degrees, pull from any angle you want, drag it all over, hit other trees, etc and you'll never lose the log.Save yourself the headaches, and money. Get a choker set up and be done with it.Hope this helps.

We have had a more traditional set of 32” logging tongs that we “way” over worked, 3000-4000 lbs a few times, but they just kept working. Finally the pivot pin broke, and they were in sorry shape anyway, so I ordered these to replace them. Very impressed. The points are a good upgrade, and I would totally buy this type again instead. I haven’t had the chance to put it through any extreme paces yet, but I have no misgivings.

Using commercially to haul large logs out of bush with my 12,000 lb tractor and works quite well, fast set up. No complaints here. Heavy and well constructed, delivered on time, good price. I clear wooded lots professionally. Thanks.

I am continually impressed with how well these work. I have moved many 16’ spruce logs over 30” in diameter without issue.

Works great for my tree service. The chin hook comes unhooked easily is my only complaint
