So Easy to use, so inexpensive to get, and yes, it sharpens your knives well.
For $10.00 you could do worse. I needed a sharpener quickly, and I didn't want to spend a mint on a sharpener. My favorite still is the Edge Pro Apex knife sharpener, but at over $200.00 it had better be amazing. It is.Will this little X Chef ahem, cut it? Well, yes actually. I have a Cold Steel Tanto blade that I am not too happy to admit the blade has been through the war, and back. One of the best knives I have ever had. Dull would be an understatement. My Gerber fixed blade made a butter knife look sharp too. Both garbage for any cutting at all.Okay, this little knife cutter with its Course, and Fine, that is a Carbide, and Ceramic affair help 2 stage your knife edge to a usable edge again. I am slowly working my Cold Steel up to where it could be. Yes, taking your time, being deliberate in your sharpening pays dividends. The Cold Steel Tanto, is cutting a sheet of paper effortlessly now. I want to still fine up the edge a bit more. I think a system like the Apex maybe what I need, but this little sharpener in the mean time, is choice for that knife that needs to cut food, and other things with ease, and safety. There is nothing more dangerous than a dull knife. Now for the just for fun test. I have this garbage $6.00 knife for kitchen duty. Its edge was so dull, you think it was a C movie prop instead of a knife for prepping food. I mean a rubber blade knife would give this knife a run for its money. So taking my time, I got this horrible knife to a great edge, and passes my paper cut test with ease. This too me proves this little sharpeners worth as it can take a garbage knife blade and make it part of my cooking arsenal again. Who knew?I love the size and ergonomics. tough to miss here really. Though instructions are pretty absent here. Well, no instructions at all. Wow. First item I have bought without the instructions most people don't read anyway, but still these folks could have given me a choice thank you much. The handle keeps my hand mostly away from the cutting or sharpening business at hand. Yes, you will remove material from your blade. That is how it gets sharpened.I have friends who think that you could sharpen blades without taking off material. Where do they get that idea? At any rate, this is an easy to use on the fly sharpener that just about anyone can use, save some of my above mentioned friends. I recommend this as a good way to sharpen your knives, but under no circumstances will it replace a quality sharpening system. With that understood, a solid recommended.

Great Sharpner
For the price this is hard to top! After using this and noticing a big difference on some of our everyday knives, I figured I would expand and do some testing on some older ones that have been beat up for years. The coarse wide worked lovely, Cut a nice clean coarse edge. The ceramic side did clean up the edge from the coarse side but left some to be desired. All in all I have no problem using our knives to cut through tomato's anymore. The handle offset works as described. It nice to be able to grasp tight as you run you're knives through, and is weighted perfectly. Even with the handle it has a small footprint so it easily fits in a drawer. The only thing that I had a real problem with is the waste. Every time I use this I put a towel under neath to catch the shavings. If there was a small bowl on the on the out side that you could dump after you were done, this would be perfect.

Great knife sharpener
Great knife sharpener! I bought this as i figured WTH my knives were getting pretty dull. I either had to buy a sharpner or buy a new knife set. Let's face it people hurt themselves with dull knives more so than with sharp knives. This thing worked like a charm. Brought new life to my Hampton Forge knives I bought years ago. Essentially there is a coarse side and a smooth. Run the blade a few time on each side. Use, wash, rinse, and repeat. Now I actually use that paring knife again and not have to worry about stabbing myself. I would buy again if it was available just in case something goes wrong.

Meh
Kind of sort of does the job but I should have probably just ordered a flat stone for better results.
