Simple to install
This is the 3rd time the cartridge has had to be replaced. It is a simple part to replace. The replacement part goes into place and works correctly the first time.

I purchased two of these (one for a replacement, the other as a spare for when the other shower fails). The Price Pfister 131765 Ceramic Cartridge replaces the old two-part valve/balancer assemblies. The material quality of the Price Pfister 131765 Ceramic Cartridge seems very good. (TIP: when you remove the old unit from the brass housing, look to see of there are any rubber seals stuck to the back of the housing. If yes, make sure you remove them and clean the surface where they sat before installing the new unit. The seals actually belong in the old valve/balancer unit you just removed, not in the housing. I you don't remove them, the new cartridge will not seal correctly and may fracture later). Replacing one of these is not as hard as you might think, and you'll save a ton of money compared to calling in a plumber!

Works in place of the 2 piece style valves that Price Pfister still makes.
This one piece replacement valve for the 'turn only' shower control valves by Price Pfister works on both the older two piece style and newer one piece style. I upgraded the 2 piece style to this as it costs less to buy just the one and you might not want to leave 1/2 the valve in place for a follow up repair as I hear this style shower valve can have problems from both halves.The one draw back of the one piece style is the valve must be installed straight on, sometimes the opening for it is cut a little tight, or screw heads could be larger not allowing that to happen easily without some adjustments. The 2 piece style lets you tilt each piece as you get them into position.Price Pfister offers a lifetime warranty on their shower valves now, it may be worth your time to check if you still have that proof of purchase (yeah right...)
