This book will save your life.

This book has saved my life. I follow it very closely and have taken my kidneys from a 4B to a 3B in 2.5 years. I also am diabetic and lactose intolerant but I made it all work. I am 75 years old and feel better than I have in years. I am not done. The best of luck.

Good recipes no pictures

I haven't really tried any other recipes yet but I can tell you they seem pretty simple. The only problem is there are no pictures if I had known that I probably would not have purchased it.

CKD Must Have!

Not only does this cookbook have food recipes, but it also has recipes for kidney-healthy seasonings, dressings, sauces, and stocks. I would most definitely recommend this cookbook for anyone who just got diagnosed with CKD since it also includes so many tips with its shopping lists and meal plans.

So I was really starving myself instead of eating healthy which is even worse than eating drunk food

I thought it would be one of my new year’s resolutions to try to eat healthy. I have tried to do so before and failed miserably. I had no particular eating techniques or habits that I had to adapt to. So I was really starving myself instead of eating healthy which is even worse than eating junk food. Now this book is very interesting because it gives me a plan that I could follow to actually achieve my goals. First of all, the 28 day meal plan is definitely designed for someone who is just learning about certain physiological conditions or issues such as liver and stomach issues which are caused in some cases by their diet. It's also amazing for those that are just into putting a meal plan together. I have only done a few of the recipes myself. I consider myself to be a little average in the culinary skills and I found the recipes to be easy to follow. If you could follow directions then this cookbook would be a very good choice. I, for instance, am an electrical engineer and I follow this book to the letter not only because of my line of work but mostly because I am not too keen in the whole cooking activity. So far following this book and its recipes have not been that complicated. When it comes to the recipes’ section, there a variety of them some are about sauces, seasonings, breakfasts, soups, seafood, dessert etc... Aside from directions, I think the author of the book could have put more photos for the different steps of a recipe. I think it would be a very good way to attract people to try different recipes and make it easier for them to follow with the directions given. Moreover, I was kind of disappointed to see that I had to go to the index in order to follow a particular plan. The book itself is a good book but it could have been much more organized. However, I would recommend it for the information that it contain. But one must not accept to catch their attention from an imagery perspective.

Contains a Lot of Good Information

I had no idea that such products as Ener-g Baking Powder and Ener-g Baking Soda existed which are so useful to CKD patients. I found a few good recipes. There are food charts that help one to balance phosphorus and potassium in the diet and in cooking. It doesn't stop here. You can then adapt your own cooking and favorite recipes based on the information provided. Food doesn't have to be bland. I've read several books for renal diets and some were very contradictory and confusing. This book was very helpful and I highly recommend it.
