TS808 Original Tube Screamer Overdrive Pedal

TS808 is a great addition to my sound chain. It has a nice warm tube sound to get you that classic rock vibe in your mix.

What else is there to say? The classic Ibanez TS808 is great for any musician wanting a boost. I use mine essentially as a clean boost with tone/dist on zero and level on max in front of my high gain 6505 and triple rec. It amazingly tightens up the tone and boosts the signal in this config. Price is what it is, these things never really change cost. I honestly feel naked without one of these or a ts9 in front of my rig.

I purchased the same tube screamer 808 reissue in 2007 and I loved it. Last year the pedal switch stopped working so I couldn't turn the pedal off. It is the pedal that I use the most with my tube amp because of how it colors the sound. So I had to replace it with the exact same version of tube screamer. Despite my concern about the new pedal not sounding like the one it's replacing, to my surprise they sound sound identical. Whatever they are doing in Japan where they manufacture these pedals they must have stuck with the same components and manufacturing process because I can't tell a difference between the two despite them being 16 years apart in age. Good job Ibanez.

So I've had the TS9 on my board for over 25 years. I didn't believe that the extra $ for the 808 could be worth it. And I loved my TS9 anyway, so why go changing? I read a bunch of reviews, I watched a few videos comparing different editions of the tube screamer, and the consensus seemed to be that the difference is subtle. Well, I got curious and took the bait And I'm So Glad I Did. Subtle difference? Not to my ear. The 808 is so much warmer and smoother. It's got a rich tone that I'm now truly in love with. Oh, my #1 axe is an American Standard strat that I modded with Texas Special pups. And it loves the 808 as much as I do.

Was sent a pedal that was clearly used, decided to keep it anyway because it did sound good. The third time I used it the foot switched stopped functioning completely! Garbage! Can’t tell if I was sold a refurbished product like someone else stated, but I am no longer buying pedals from Amazon. Thankfully it broke before the 30 days was up, buyer beware.

It adds boost but not distortion - best used before a multifx pedal for boost.

Classic and it works... would have given 5 but the price should be about the same as the TS9.
