Would a plastic cup holder fit thus mug so I can drink from it like a normal mug?

Depends which plastic cup holder! I do love mine as I hate drinking out of a ‘bucket’ sized huge mugs. Get it and try it out

The lid is dishwasher safe. The mug should be cleaned by hand.

The base is 64mm (approx 2.5 inches) in diameter. It is an excellent travel mug!

Do smoothies taste nice in these?

It’s stainless steel inside. I shouldn’t think will affect the taste. ? But I can say it is really good quality mug. Seals really well. Not dishwasher safe. Comes with two types of leads. I would highly recommend it.
