Outrageously good!
This is a first-rate proprietary blend of spices with well-balanced flavors. In my opinion, it is by far the best and most versatile spice blend in my over-stocked pantry. Slap Ya Mama is spicy hot but not overwhelmingly so and you can adjust the heat by modulating the amount used. The main spice mix contains ground red pepper, salt, black pepper, and garlic. There is no MSG and it is certified Kosher. This being said, the ingredients list doesn't really convey the uniqueness of the blend. I have tried lots of Cajun and Creole spice blends, but this is, without a doubt, my very favorite blending. I find it to be extremely versatile and can use it in a wide array of recipes. It can be used (lightly) to enhance rice, vegetables, or some awesome scrambled eggs; (a bit heavier) for Cajun grilled catfish or to amp-up a soup or stew; and (liberally) on barbecued meats. You can even sprinkle it in olive oil as a dipping spice for fresh bread or over your popcorn. Go ahead and give it a try -- bet you'll be really glad you did.

You might actually Slap Ya Mama it is that good!
I usually use Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning and just finished off a 16 oz container (what can I say I make a lot of red beans and rice, jambalaya and gumbo!) but Amazon is always helping me find new and exciting things so I decided to give Slap Ya Mama a chance. Well - hoo-doggie this is some great Cajun seasoning! So far used it in a house-made creamy salad dressing (on a BLTA salad), on scrambled eggs and in red beans and rice. I'm not saying I won't re-stock my Tony Chachere's (I've been using that for about 25 years) but there is room in my spice rack for two seasonings. Plus one is Cajun and the other is Creole. See how I made that work?

This is a staple around our kitchen. A little Mama Slap makes almost anything better.
Slap Ya Mama is a very versatile Cajun seasoning. We use it very regularly around the kitchen. The flavor is concentrated so a little goes a long way. This is great because Cajun seasonings (including Slap Ya Mama) are primarily salt. Slap Ya Mama delivers a lot of flavor with just a little shake. We use this in tacos, rubs, in wing sauce, on fish, in dips, even on salads in place of salad dressing from time to time. It is extremely versatile. I will warn that this Cajun blend has a little kick. It is a bit spicier than a lot of other seasonings, so don't over do it. The price on this 16oz bottle is extremely good! If you look at the 8oz bottle, you will find it costs twice the price for half as much. But don't worry about it going bad. It has a shelf life of near infinity and it doesn't really matter because once you start using it, it won't be around long anyway.

Tastes Great, despite bad packaging
This product simply tastes great! Not too spicy, but some of the best all-around seasoning I've had or used. I live in a location where American food is not that spicy in comparison, but it was nice to receive some real seasoning from the States. Its not too salty, but has a full flavor that is a little bit spicy. I've already used some on a bean soup I made and it contributed nicely to the flavor. I cannot wait to try it on the grill! I wrote to Amazon's feedback department about the shipping, but if you order this product online, contact the seller/shipper and ask for it to be packaged separate from other products or at least better wrapped. While this review has nothing to do with the shipping, I thought it fair to warn others that ours came exploded inside a box with other items. Much to my wife's dismay, a friend and I decided to taste the Seasoning, which was literally everywhere, and we thought it tasted great enough to salvage. We were only able to scoop up about one fifth of the entire container's contents. It really does taste great and would receive 5 stars if it came complete and unexploded.

I use this stuff in (almost) everything I cook.
I use this stuff in (almost) everything I cook. From Bacon & Eggs (yes, that’s what I said), to Smashed ‘Taters, to Pot Roast, to Fried Chicken and Fish, to Soups, to Casseroles, to Steamed Veggies, to Salads and Salad Dressings - heck I’m not above sprinkling a little sparkle into homemade ice cream. Anywhere you want a little sparkle. You’ll see folks get that face just before they ask: “Gawd that’s good! What’s in this!?” But don’t you tell ‘em... (they’ll think your crazy!) meanwhile, they keep tastin’ And tastin and guessin’ and askin’ and tastin’ some more. The trick is to know how much to use for each food type; but you have to figure that out for yourself as you go along. This is a staple-Seasoning in my kitchen cupboards.

I decided that a vegetarian Jambalaya was a good idea and indeed it was. The recipe called for a tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, but I put in considerably more than that, which was not a good idea. So much so that I had to increase the other ingredients to "dilute" the effect of too much seasoning. However, it finished up being delicious.

I should have believed the reviews saying how salty this is. Put it on chicken wings as the main seasoning and they were too salty to eat. Aside from that the flavour is good but I could only ever see it being used as a seasoning for chips like peri peri salt etc where you don’t use that much.
