South Shore Step One 1-Drawer Nightstand, Pure Black with Matte Nickel Handles

Nightstand is very nice. I'm a college student who was in need of furniture for my new home. I needed something affordable but also good quality. I definitely take quality of quantity and this is a great product for the price. It doesn't appear or feel cheap whatsoever in my opinion. The only downside to this dresser is that you have to build it yourself and it is a bit time consuming, also, I was missing a piece, luckily it wasn't anything I couldn't do without. The instructions are very easy and simple to follow. If you want a nice nightstand and don't mind assembling it to save a good chunk of change, this is the one for you. I'm a 21yr-old female who built it by myself, it took approximately 2 hours. and I managed to keep on my nails on ;)

As I'm sure is the case for many of you, I was looking for a set of night stands without paying the absurd prices most places want for them. I definitely needed at least one drawer so for around $50 these were by far the most affordable so I took a gamble on them... what a good choice that was.Assembly is not that bad although a bit time intensive. Based on other reviews of this and the matching dresser, the drawers tend to be a bit flimsy, so I used Gorilla Glue to secure the bottoms of the drawers and they are very sturdy. I'm not sure how much of a difference the glue made since I didn't use them without it, but they seem to be well made given the price tag.Overall, these are great night stands and would definitely recommend them over anything else near this price range.

Just received this item today. It looks great when complete - a very dark brown (looks almost black in dim light), and the handle is stylish. It looks pretty close to the pictures on Amazon when in bright light.It took about 15 minutes to open the BOX... but it was packaged well. It was assembled by me in maybe an hour tops. It's on par with some bookcases I've bought at Walmart. I recommend you read through all the directions to be sure you know where each part goes. The directions aren't horrible, but they aren't great either.I was a little disappointed that one of the parts had a "recycled" label on it with a disclaimer that it was an unseen piece so color may not match... the color certainly did NOT match, and while it is not easily seen, it was the back leg that could be seen through the round gap on the front if you look at it straight on from the floor (if that makes sense). Anyway, not a big deal, but it was the first assemble-yourself furniture I've bought that recycles parts.The plastic rollers don't seem too bad - it rolls very smoothly - but the bottom of the drawer is pretty flimsy compressed wood... kinda like laminated cardboard. It'll hold a drawer full of underwear and socks, but not one full of books. I may look for some wood slats to install below it to provide some security. It's too bad the manufacturer didn't charge an extra $4-5 to provide a stronger floor.I think we'll be buying more from the series. The price is great and it looks good. It's not going to be passed on to our children or anything, but it'll work for now.- Chris

I've been looking for the perfect nightstand for a long time, and I finally found it. It just arrived today (came one day late, no big deal though) it looked just as pictured. I'm a 21 female and am not good at putting things together, luckily my dad lives by so he came over to help me put it together (approx. 45 minutes) and it went smoothly. The wood is very sleek and smooth, not rough or jagged for fear of splinters (issue for me). The edges are sharp however so caution ha. The drawer is huge, there is so much room in there. The color is 100% accurate. Instructions were easy to follow through too. There is decent open space in the bottom, probably where I will be putting my purse. It's not too tall and not too small, just right-I have a king size bed for future reference to help anyone... I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice dark grey nightstand(:

We got this for our 4 year-old son's bedroom. We wanted something that would match his new bed without spending a lot of money. This piece fit the bill. I wasn't expecting super high quality but I was still somewhat disappointed by the product when I opened the box. The back of the stand is cardboard, which for the price wasn't a big surprise. I was disappointed that the drawer bottom was cardboard as well and the drawer slides and most other connectors are made from plastic. The directions were fairly simple to follow and I put it together by myself in about and hour. I had to be extremely careful hammering the slides in. Even with the tool they provided, a bottom chunk of the slide still broke off in the process, but didn't make it unusable. When all was said and done, it seemed like a somewhat sturdy piece and looked pretty nice. I'm sure at some point (after the first spill), we'll end up replacing the drawer bottom with thin plywood. All in all, if you want something that looks nice for a guest room with limited use or kid's room where you know it'll have a limited life, it's a solid purchase. If you want something for long-time frequent use, I'd look for something else.

We bought this for our guest room. What can I say - I just love this furniture! Unbelievably sturdy. Yes you have to put it together, but if you take your time and look at the instructions - it isn't hard. My husband and I started with the nightstand first to get the "hang of it". Then we did the headboard - the five drawer chest and last - the dresser. I love the color - we got Gray Oak - looks fabulous with med. gray walls. Will definitely buy from again!!
