Neilmed Sinus Rinse Extra Strength Hypertonic 70 Packets

These were a lifesaver after septoplasty, and turbinet reduction. I got the sixteen ounce bottle too, so it wouldn't burn when I had to flush my nose 5-6 times a day.

This nasal rinse solution (actually, it's just the powdered salt) is a great relief from sinus allergies. I have used it every day for about five years, and have not been to the allergist or the ENT doctor since I started using it. Even my sensitive top teeth have stopped hurting, since my sinuses have improved so much. (These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. ;-) ) Seriously, give yourself and your sinuses a break, and use the solution that you make up with these packets! You will need a bottle or pot to get the solution into your nasal passages, of course. I use the bottle. Be sure to use either filtered or distilled water to make up the solution. I nuke my filtered water in the microwave for 15 or 20 seconds just to make it a bit warmer than room temperature, which is much more comfortable than if the water is cold. I prefer the hypertonic, which is what this review is for. The hypertonic mixture stimulates a bit of self-washing by the sinuses, which really helps to clear out any gunk or debris. You might want to try the isotonic mixture for awhile, to get used to the sensation, which is very tolerable in either mixture. I like these better than the regular strength version because the additional salt and baking soda better covers up the sensation of chlorine in tap water. It also lets me fill the bottle all the way up without diluting the mix. That said, these packets might have a little additional wince factor to them than the regular packets for the first few times you use them. After you are accustomed to that slight weirdness, though, they work as well or better than the regular packets, and I think the narrow packages are easier to use than the standard ones. I use these up to three times per day for severe sinus issues, and wouldn't know what to do without them. Instead of steroid nasal sprays and drugs, these do the job without complex chemicals or prescriptions, and at a much lower cost.

I tend to have periodic sinus trouble due to allergies and found some relief with the standard solution. After reading up on why I was only getting partial relief, I found on the nielmed site that they had this stronger formula and that it might help people like me. OMG!!! these packets feel amazing! I use the sinus rinse bottle, warm up my distilled water and add a packet. Shake it up, lean over the sink and squeeze. Immediate relief! I've found that I don't have to use these as often as the standard formula as this clears *everything* up in one use. Excellent product, definitely recommended!

I am glad this comes in a stronger strength! I flush twice a day and this really helps keep my nose clear from house and outdoor pollen! I would recommend this strength only if the lighter one has been used first! That is only my opinion! I also use a mild ointment around the outside of my nose! Will ordered again! Great shipping!

This stuff works for me better than the regular strength packets. I used to get a clean head from the regular packets but I'd get stuffy later in the day sometimes. With this stuff I only have to use it once a day and I feel clean and unstuffy all day. When you use it you get a sort of "pool water in the nose" feeling and sometimes it stings a little, so be sure to inhale-exhale into a towel (gently) at least ten times to get it all out of your nasal cavity after you rinse. Also, per the instructions: This stuff is NOT for beginners. If you've never done a saline rinse before, start with the regular packets.

I love these but recommend trying the normal 'non-hypertonic' solution first. These ARE NOT simply a stronger version of the normal solution these provide a very different effect - at least for me. the normal solution provide a really good wash of the sinus passages. I use two each time and find that I don't get seasonal allergies anymore and the skin around my nose doesn't break-out. the hypertonic solution really burn but for the discomfort what they do is amazing. My smelling has changed - really really changed. also kinda gross but be careful not to use these when you will be out in public. At least for me I find that my nose will start too run suddenly later in the day. I think because some of the solution is still in there and has worked through some deeper passage blocks. Bottom line: I plan to use the hypertonics until I'm out then start switching back and forth between the standard solution and the hypertonics.
