Yet another ho-hum romance masquerading as a P&P variation.
The names are there, but little else. Darcy, Lizzy, Wickham, Mr Bennet, Georgiana, Lydia... you won’t recognize one of them. Like every other hero and heroine of romance fiction, Darcy is unbelievably handsome and wealthy. Lizzy is unbelievably beautiful and feisty. But maybe the plot is something new? Well, no. Desperate for an heir in a hurry, Darcy chooses the first “acceptable” woman, buys her from her parents, and marries in a hurry, despite having caught her and her true love (Wickham!) in a midnight tryst the very day she’s agreed to marry Darcy. But that’s okay. He’s really desperate for that heir?Well, no, not so much. For right after a rushed marriage, he decides he wants to wait for her to fall in love with him. Huh? What about that heir and the imminent danger he’s in? The author has to trot out this tired cliché.For Lizzy’s part, she’s determined to reject his every overture so she can stay “true to Wickham.”Hardly rational, intelligent, or honorable. And what about her wedding vows? The denouement is utterly predictable and utterly simplistic. In the course of a few pages, she saves his life, they profess their mutual love, and it’s off into the sunset for an HEA.Perhaps I’m asking too much of historical romances. There are plenty of worse ones out there, and the writing here is tolerable. But there are also a lot of really terrific ones. This one’s a thumbs down.

Confusing
It's a confusing story with parts that make no sense. Supposed to take place at Longbourn in Hertfordshire but the writer has added streets and city blocks and even streetlights which definitely didn't exist in 1812 country towns. Too much is glossed over or minimized as though the writer didn't care to flesh out the story. The relationship between Elizabeth and Wickham makes no sense either. In love enough to want to marry but not enough to not fall in love with Darcy only weeks later.
