An amazing trimmer for little money.
Why I Need This: I've been shaving with Norelco electric razors for years. And while I like the way they shave, their built-in pop-up trimmer leaves something to be desired. I don't have a beard. But I do have a mustache and sideburns that need to be trimmed. It's not that that Norelco's pop-up trimmer doesn't work. But in order to get the desired results, I have to keep going over the same area multiple times. I thought to myself, if only I could find an inexpensive trimmer that would do the job quickly and easily. Tada! Wahl to the rescue! The Performance: All I can say is wow. For fifteen bucks this little trimmer is amazing. I was all set to buy something a lot more expensive. I'm glad I didn't. First of all, I don't need or want a trimmer for hair in my nose and ears (I prefer scissors and tweezers for that). Secondly, I have no use for a dozen different attachments to trim the hair on my head (my barber would kill me). And thirdly, I'm not the sort of guy who likes to manscape my manly parts, or even think of shaving off my treasure trail (look it up if I lost you). The Cutting Mechanism: Surprisingly for the money, the blade mechanism on this trimmer is not a flimsy piece of stamped metal. The base plate is thick, and it's "precision ground" per Wahl. I believe it. And unlike the crappy trimmer on my Norelco razor, this trimmer contains a lot of closely spaced teeth. The end result is that I can set the length of my sideburns and trim my mustache in about 1/3 the time.Power Requirements: This trimmer does not work or come with a cord. Nor does it have a built-in rechargeable battery. Nor does it come with any batteries at all. It uses two (2) AA batteries that you'll have to supply yourself. You can power it using regular alkaline batteries. But I already have a battery charger and a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries, so that's what I use.Warranty: The warranty on this trimmer is three years. But considering the cheap price, it may not even be worth the cost of postage to return it to Wahl if it quits working.Maintenance: This trimmer is not waterproof. Don't use it in the shower, or use water to clean it. Use the included brush to brush away unwanted hairs in the cutting mechanism. Wahl includes a little bottle of oil. You're supposed to apply a few drops to the cutting mechanism every month.Country of Origin: Unlike some Wahl products that were made in the USA, this trimmer was made in Vietnam.Closing Comments: It's inexpensive, and it works very well for my needs. I didn't mention it earlier, but the shape of this trimmer is easy to hold. I'm very pleased with this product.

It works just fine as intended.
While saying it works as intended after owning for a month or so, the motor is quite loud while trimming beard when I forget/don’t feel like shaving my face.Hence the 4 stars for that unexpectedly loud motor edible level I am not used to.I trust that this Wahl won’t hurt/grab/pull my facial hairs too much if my facial hair gets any longer than a quarter of an inch as I’ve used the Wahl trimmer for a couple times now since purchase. This is after I came from using much more expensive and rechargeable Philips 5000 and 7000 series trimmers. Those were much quieter and both stopped working altogether within a few years, which is why I was frustrated and decide to get a cheaper model like this Wahl just to see how it works.I love the replaceable AA battery feature. I don’t love the loud motor and cheap feel, but I expected these things basically for the lower price of ~$15 instead of $30-60+ now after recent inflation for the Philips trimmers.I’ll surely keep this inexpensive Wahl trimmer for, and likely buy a Philips trimmer or another nicer one again because this Wahl trimmer is just so loud! I’m sure people can here this Wahl AA battery operated trimmer from across the hall, whereas the nicer Philips trimmers were much…much quieter.Although, I have yet to ask anyone if they can hear it…I could probably test the loudness aspect of all the trimmer lbs myself.Still I would most assuredly keep the motor decibel (and possibly overall power capabilities) in mind when making this purchase. Yet, if you need a less expensive trimmer that of course uses replaceable AA batteries, and you possibly have sworn off rechargeable trimmers, etc after bad experiences, then this Wahl trimmer will do fineIt’ll probably be my backup if my soon-to-be nicer trimmer bites the dust once again.I’d recommend this trimmer for someone that doesn’t care about quality, feel, loudness factor of a trimmer motor… and as well the all-important as the non-rechargeable aspect. It trims. Period. How long it will last is another story.

Good beard trimmer
Works perfectly just like my original one that I purchased 10 years ago until the motor opened up. So here's to another 10 years I hope. The only negative is this one comes with a bag instead of a stand like my original. Like others have said it's easy to clean and runs on 2 AA batteries and the motor is very quiet.

Loud and Proud!
I have bought/owned/and enjoyed Wahl products over the years ....until this one. My last little beard trimmer that I used died and this simple easy to operate one seemed like a good replacement.I can guarantee you that no Wahl executive has ever been tasked with opening the package of one of these. Even a pair of household scissors could barely open this machine pressed nightmare. Once you can successfully cut through the packaging beware because the edges are sharp!Onto the trimmer itself. It has a good feel in the hand and is very lightweight. I trim my goatee and some sideburn and external ear hair on occasions.... There's no way you can trim your hair close to your ears with this. It's simply too loud. I've had a dozen or more beard trimmers over my decades of wearing a beard and nothing has come close to the buzz of this baby. For sure as loud or louder than Barber shop clippers. It did a good job on cutting with good lines.... But I can't risk the eardrum damage.
