Update: Connects to Google Play only using regular Gmail - not Using G Suite
Original Review: (Please see update below) Easy enough to set up, but the Google Play option did not light up to turn on. Updated the operating system. nothing. reset to factory settings. nothing. Spent two chat sessions with Acer techs. nothing. There are apps I need to download for work, so Google Play was a must.Update: Before returning I decided to try logging on with my regular gmail account. I really wanted my work G suite account to be default, but also didn't want to have to bother returning. That turned out to be the reason why I could not connect to Google Play. Yes, I had gone into G suite admin settings to make sure Google Play was turned on for all users. It still didn't give me the option to download Google Play for the work email that I'm the admin of. Making instructions for doing this easier to find would be helpful. All in all, for the price, this machine in a weeks time has already paid for itself. The trackpad is a bit picky - very sensitive - so I have to pay close attention to what I'm doing (what a tragedy, right? :) ) and I sometimes have to do the fix to reset the trackpad when it is slow to respond. Not a huge deal for what I use it for. It's very light. It doesn't slide off my lap. It's a Chromebook... not a high end laptop. It does the job I bought it for very well for a really low price. Changed from one star to five and will update if anything changes.

Love this!
This is my third Acer since COVID. I bought the first with my "essential worker bonus money"... I am very hard on my equipment and I might have dropped the one too many times. The second one, the charging port fell out when I was removing the charging cord. I did use the charging port on the other side until that also failed. I love the size of the monitor and the ease of use. I also REALLY need to be able to have the Kindle App on my laptop, I purchased one that was an "upgrade" but would not accept the kindle App. My son uses that one now.

The best computer I've had, besides a MacBook Pro. I prefer the price of this Chromebook!
I love, love, love this laptop.I've been using computers since 1990. This is the third Chromebook I've used, and it is the best, by far. I don't understand why more power users of computers have not written reviews of this one.The good:15.6" Full HD IPS Display. This is the best display I've seen on a computer, other than on a MacBook Pro. This display, plus the fantastic battery, are worth the price, alone. The contrast, resolution, and color are amazing.Touch screen. Being an old guy, I don't use it much, but it works well.Awesome battery. I haven't needed the battery, yet. However, the outstanding ratings of this battery, in editorial and customer reviews, are what led me to choose this laptop instead of the Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop, 15.6 inchesFast CPU, GPU.Enough RAM for using the Web and productivity.Streaming a TV show and a movie on Hulu worked better than my old Windows computer, which had only 3 GB of RAM. With this Chromebook, streaming is perfectly smooth. Audio is perfectly clear.Good speakers.I have edited Word and Excel files and saved the files, automatically, locally. Super easy.Very little emission of heat. If you don't want your room heated by your computer, buy a Chromebook.Completely silent.Easy tethering with my Google smartphone. My keyboard and mouse, bought for and previously used with my Windows laptop, worked, instantly. So, I have a ten-key number pad and a bigger keyboard, on my lap.Enough ports. It has 2 - USB Type-C ports USB 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbps) DisplayPort over USB Type-C and 2 - USB 3.0 Ports. I've learned that the USB Type-C ports are very flexible and fast. I bought a USB hub that expands one USB 3.1 Gen 1 or USB 3.0 into four 3.0s. I'm going to buy another hub that connects one USB Type-C port into a bunch of USB, SD card, and even HDMI ports.32GB eMMC. I remember being excited when my new desktop computer had a whopping 3 GB of hard disc space. If you're storing a bunch of video, this will get filled up, but if not, I think this will be good. The bad:A Pearson etext for Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader doesn't seem to work on the Chrome Browser that came with it. I updated it, but it still doesn’t show as a download option. I was able to read other titles with Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader on this Chromebook.A Pearson etext that I rented through Vitalsource.com won't work, although free trials and access cards from Pearson, have worked. I spent a lot of time with tech support, cleared they cache. No luck. The Chrome OS doesn't allow other browsers to be installed, unless you do some advanced tweaking.I don't know whether the RAM or SSD are expandable. That's an area where the Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop definitely surpasses this Chromebook. If you want to store a bunch of audio or video, you should consider that one.If I didn't need to be mobile and benefit from the amazing battery this Acer Chromebook 15 has, or if I needed to store a lot of audio or video files, I would have bought the Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop. But, the battery life on that is poor, and it is not easily removable. This battery is not removable, either, but who would need to, when it lasts so long?

This is exactly what most people need
Most folks do the same basic stuff on a computer (Email, social media, purchasing, video chat, etc.). This computer does all of that great. You can use the Google suite of tools for most other things, and if you get MS documents, spreadsheets, etc. you can look at and edit those. In fact, all MS products can be done online, so you don't really need to have them loaded on a PC.Everything a normal person would need with the convenience of a ten-second bootup and no need for virus protection. Without a hard drive running the battery lasts a very long time.I have been using a "Chrome Base" (a Chrome O/S desktop) as a primary computer for 7-8 years, so there was no learning curve for me. If you don't need to run special software, this is the way to go!

Great Computer for the price
I bought this computer after reading multiple reviews on Amazon.com. This seemed the best for the value (I bought this about a week ago for $275, just over $310 with taxes and free shipping) and so far this has not disappointed! If you are new to Chromebooks, this has good interface that is similar but improved from windows. The keyboard is responsive with no issues, the touchscreen responds well and the touchpad works well. I have a few minor issues with trying to figure out how to run an external DVD/CD +RW driver, but otherwise this computer works very well. I highly recommend it but as i stated above I've only been using this for a week. I'll post an update to this review in about 6 months. So far it's great!
