Research Methods in Applied Linguistics (Oxford Applied Linguistics)

One of the most useful texts I have purchased, includes mixed methods

So dry. SO SO DRY. Every chapter in this book could have been summed up in a paragraph but because it was drawn out with pretentious language it was very difficult to understand. The statistical concepts are not explained well and there aren't good visual representations of the author's ideas.

This was one of the books I used in my own MA dissertation The points Dornyei put forth are clear and conscice. A must for any post graduate student. As well, this would be a good read for all professionals involved in this field of education.

Dornyei writes in simple language very useful things for any linguist interested on doing research. Also the chapters are well organized from the most simple basic definitions and topics to more complex and in depth. This is one of the most useful books for research specially if you are not sure about which point of view you want to take, how to code the data, which method works better for each topic etc. VERY USEFUL, a book to keep if you want to do research.

Content is OK but the orgainzation and the language expression are clumsy. It is not plain English and he seems not to want to communicate with the readers and only express his view !

Good and easy to read introductory book for research methods in applied linguistics. Needs updating but still has all core methods and key names.

Another research text I used immensely for my MA TESOL (2018 graduate). A great read.

Very satisfied, it's the first edition though. Bought this, and soon the one I borrowed from the university library was recalled due to someone's request.
