Powerful, smooth, and built to last
I've used a few different orbital sanders over the years, and this DEWALT is easily one of the best in its price range. The variable speed is a huge plus, plus it makes it easy to dial things in depending on whether I’m sanding soft pine or harder woods like oak or walnut. It’s got a good weight to it, but not so much that it wears out your arm. It glides smoothly across the surface without leaving swirl marks, and the vibration is minimal, which is something I really appreciate after long sanding sessions.Dust collection isn’t perfect, but it does a decent job if you hook it up to a vacuum. I ended up using a universal adapter to fit my dust extractor and it’s been solid. For woodworking projects, furniture refinishing, or general cleanup sanding, this sander just works. Feels solid in the hand, doesn’t bog down under pressure, and hasn’t let me down once.

Right tool for the Job
I needed a sander that would hold up to some heavy use to resurface old cedar clapboards. The DeWaltvariable speed worked flawlessly. The dust collector filled up quickly and needed to be emptied often. Cordedwas the best option for me since it weighed a bit less and I didnt need to buy expensive batteries. I'd recommend better sandpaper like 3m Ultra Durable or Xtract which will save you time and money in the long run.

LOVE this sander! Can't go wrong with Dewalt.
I LOVE this sander. It's my go to sanding tool. I actually bought 2. I was doing work at my mom's which is in a different state and could have really used this sander, so I bought a second one. Easy to change out sanding disks, just pull it off and stick a new one on, it's velcro. And with Dewalt, I expect to last forever. It's a name you can trust.

Great Orbital Sander with a Couple Small Flaws
I have essentially the brushless, cordless version of this from the same mfr. I wanted a corded sander because I just started a project working on 4 of 2 ft x 8 ft plywood panels, sanding from 60# to 120# to 180#. I wanted consistency in my sanding patterns, and manual sanding of anything of any real size is for the birds.PROS:* No cord = no power fluctations. My cordless sander would gradually lose power with continued use.* Lightweight and maneuverable.* Adjustable 6-speed dial.* Fits any 5" sanding discs.CONS:* Doesn't have as much power as my cordless. The dial on this goes to 6 vs 7 on my cordless, but it's more than that. The OPM (oscillations per minute) should be the same, 8000 to 12000 per minute. But the corded just doesn't remove as much material, or sand as fine, as the cordless.* The OPM dial is in a bad place for a right-handed user. As you hold it, especially if you are trying to bear down, you are likely to accidentally shift from 6 to 5 to 4 without realizing it.* An obvious problem with a corded power tool is, well, the cord. If you're used to a corded, you figure out a method to manage the cord. It's more of a problem switching between corded and cordless.

Great quality
Nothing like a dewault for quality. One of the best tools to have around the house for someone who likes to work with wood or has a wooden deck that needs sprucing up every now and then.
