Easy to use for your average DIYer

I've been working up the courage to paint the exterior of my home for months and have been going back and forth researching various units trying to decide which to purchase. I landed on this one simply due to the name, the number of reviews, and the number of professionals in the reviews who recommended to choose this one as an option for people who don't paint for a living. The instructions are super easy to follow, the paint flows through silky smooth and once you get confident it's as easy as point and go. I did my entire patio and back of the house in an exterior green from Sherwin Williams within minutes and it was the easiest thing I've ever DIY'd. Like all painting jobs, prep will take you the longest - this is no exception. Spend the time taping what you don't want paint to accidentally land on, fix any imperfections beforehand, and once you're done, clean your machine and prep it for storage. There's no reason it won't work for you if you're intentional and methodical with your process. I'm beyond impressed with the outcome, so proud of myself, and so happy to be saving thousands of dollars being able to do this all myself and only pay for materials and not labor. I am of the age and physical ability to do it myself at this point in my life, so why not. I respect those that do this for a living, but for now, I'm enjoying learning the process and seeing the outcome.

Good sprayer for the price

Used it to spray primer and top coat on my board and batten barn. I used a Wagner in the past and this is a major improvement. Direct suction from the paint can instead of having to keep an open top tray filled. Clean up by attaching a garden hose directly to the sprayer makes clean up a small task instead of a major event.

very satisfied ( BUT ) please read all

As a painter of 45 yrs I have used many graco high dollar pumps for work and many other brand`s , I sort of bought this unit along with another very expensive powerful unit as a toy just for kick`s to see what the modern world is up to these day`s , so I was doing my own home for fun and I was using behr marquee exterior flat paint , if you know about this material it is one of the thickest on the market it is an outstanding lasting paint , I thought for sure I was going to need thinning but I did not do it and went for it straight out of the gallon can , after you do the initial prep cleaning that is needed before you put paint in the machine , this thing can suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch ball , I sprayed 17 gallons over a 6 hour period and the pump did not fail me for one second and I did not even use a strain bag over the intake tube as I always do because I really did not care after only paying 200 bucks for this thing , I still cleaned it up as I always do with a 5 gallon bucket of hot water with a tiny spoon of lemon dish soap in it ran out the 5 gallons of water then a clean 2 gallon bucket of water then I put the pump armor thru her and I fell in love , my guy`s think I am crazy carrying this thing around with me every where like a six pack of soda, it weighs nothing , now here is my bad side of this review , I took another pump into my airless repair shop that most of southern calif uses for over 50 yrs they are outstanding and honest on all pump`s , I was talking about my new toy and how happy it made me as a painter he said oh boy watch out I have had a dozen or so of those come in and there is nothing I can do for them they are actually disposable , I said your kidding me , he was very serious and showed me a few that were in his recycle pile , they all had leaked paint out of the back of the machine from inside the plastic shroud and are not fixable , when you buy this unit you must register it the same day with graco do not hesitate before you touch it , just fill out the paper and send it in and the customer service at graco is out of this world they will simply send you another unit asap if you need it I say buy one for any job it will pay its self off just with the 50 dollar hose and the 125 dollar gun alone and the unit actually coast only as much as a good quality 5 gallon bucket of paint.

Keep it clean and it will serve you well.

I didn't expect much from this unit. I'm not even close to a professional and only use it for home projects. At the low cost I paid, I figured I could use it once and then toss it and almost break even. I expected to use it once and then have it never work right again. I was wrong.I have had no problem getting this unit to prime nor have I had any problem painting or staining with it. It did finally clog once when I got to the very bottom of a can of thick latex, (the paint had been sitting around for a week after purchase so I should have remixed it a bit better), but that wasn't too much trouble to clear up. I didn't use a straining bag over the suction pick up and that was my reward, but it happened only the one time. While painting I occasionally reverse t the tip to keep it from clogging. (I just squirt the paint that comes out back into the bucket.) I don't wait for it to clog before reversing the tip.The suction hose is just long enough for a five gallon bucket of paint. I plunged that hose in both five gallon and one gallon buckets with no problem getting the last of the paint. If you do it right, clean up can take longer than the paint job and clean up is pretty messy, but being thorough means the unit will work next time you need it. You get to avoid getting so frustrated that you toss it and run out and buy a new one. Focus on that spray tip and be SURE it's clean. I use a wire brush to clean the smaller parts. Being able to attach a garden hose to the unit for clean up is definitely a plus. After cleaning it I leave the garden hose attached and run water through it for quite a while. (I used water based products.) I put it on 'prime' and let water run through it and then switch prime off and run water through the hose. I've got it all reassembled at this point so while running water through it I keep reversing the tip until I finally get a consistent fan of water coming out of it. If you think you're done cleaning it, clean it some more and you won't get frustrated next time you pull it out for a project. Don't think, "That's good enough." Think, "It looks clean, but I'm going to clean it some more."I've used it for three projects with little issue. (That one bottom of the can clog.) Next I'll be painting the house. It will be a while before I can start that project so I ran some pump armor through the unit to avoid potential issues next time I use it. It comes with a small bottle which is more than enough, but I did purchase extra. Also, I highly recommend purchasing an extension wand. It made each of my painting/staining projects much easier. A lot less bending and reaching. I guess you wouldn't need it if you were painting a chair though. It does only come with that 25 foot hose, but that was enough for me even though it is kind of stiff. When I needed to I just moved the paint sprayer and bucket of paint to a new location. A longer hose means more paint is left in the hose when you're done painting. Of course, you can always squirt that paint back into the paint bucket. I didn't feel the need for a longer hose. I did feel the need for that extension wand and that worked out to be very helpful. The hassle of cleaning it is outweighed but the ease of which you can paint. Take care of this thing and it you'll be happy with it.
