This book is exactly what I was looking for. I have a chemistry degree and wanted to study aging. All of the ideas I had to begin this pursuit were already examined and the results laid out in this book. My best idea was examined twenty years ago it seems. Pay particular attention to the parts dealing with epigenetics. While many of the ideas presented in this book can slow aging, there were two that actually had potential for reversing some aspects of aging. The first dealt with epigenetics and the second dealt with destruction of senescent cells. Epigenetics deals with how proteins are made from DNA (more specifically the RNA derived from DNA). The process of wrapping DNA after cellular mitosis (cell division) is critical to this. Dr. Sinclair explains this process and it's role in aging very well. He also explains available options and discusses what may be available int he future. An astounding visual representation of the critical wrapping process can be found by googling "Wehi videos." The removal of senescent cells is another important thing that can be done to reverse an aspect of aging. I have no doubt that within the next ten years there will be approved treatments for removing these harmful cells.. All in all, if you are interested in living longer and healthier I am not aware of any better source material available for understanding the aging processes as understood today. This book gives a window into how aging will be treated in the future. If you look on the internet you will find there is clearly a lot of bunk on aging. Without a science degree it can be difficult to understand the difference. Although there is a bit of anecdotal evidence presented (which I am grateful for), the science in this book is clearly correct.
