Lots of good plans

We were looking for inspiration in designing a floor plan for our dream house, and this book of home plans did not disappoint. There are some absolutely beautiful homes, and we've added some ideas from them to our own wishlist. None of them are perfect for what we're looking for, but we are quite particular about some things, given our unique lifestyle.

I collect house plans. I have them from many different geographic areas, and some date back to the 1700's. I like to read them because they help me to understand different values that people have, and the adjustments they make predicated on climate. This book is HUGE. It's also heavy, REALLY HEAVY -- meaning to read it, you have to sit at a desk or lay on your stomach in bed. The plans truly run the gamut from 200 sf tiny houses to gargantuan 8,000+ sf monsters. Until I read this book, I'd never seen a house plan with a place for an indoor pool, a basketball court, a locker room, TWO wine cellars, and other single-purpose rooms ALL IN ONE HOUSE. (I am not making this up - and no, I have no understanding of why someone would want all that, because if you own it, you need to clean it). My favorite plan is a 1,700 sf plan with ONE bedroom. It's nicely arranged, and if I was rich, got divorced, and no one ever came to visit, I think I'd build it. Sorry, I digress....I'm not getting divorced, and people come to visit and stay over on a regular basis so that's never happening.... If you like seeing a huge variety of plans, this is a great book. I docked one star because it's so hard to see the really big plans that I need a magnifying glass to see all the details.

I bought this book because my young daughter was showing an interest in house floorplans, and she liked designing them before building them in an online building game. This book is a literal treasure trove of floorplans, with nearly every possible architectural style represented. Each glossy page includes a residential plan with photos of the house exterior, along with some commentary about its notable features. It's actually a catalog of plans you can purchase from homeplans.com, so I can't say how useful it is if you are an architect or home builder, or looking for educational material. It does tend toward run-of-the-mill "McMansion" style houses, and there isn't a ton of modern or minimalistic designs, so if that's what you want you should look elsewhere. As far as raw material to fuel home design fantasies, or to get ideas of how different styles of houses would look as a floorplan, this book is an unbeatable value. I certainly enjoyed leafing through it, and it's a hit with my daughter. Would recommend 10/10.

Good book for generalized house plans. Gives good ideas.

This book is used. It had sticky notes and writing on some pages. I don’t recall that the item was marked as previously used/owned. And at full price…

If you are building from ground up, this is where you start.

なかなか日本の建築雑誌では間取り図はあっても外観を確認できない事が多く。すごく助かりました。 あえて難を挙げると。 ・建築様式のバリエーションの幅がやや狭い ・庭のレイアウトは載っていない この雑誌と同じ系列の書籍があったらもっとほしいです

Schon seit Langem sehe ich mir gern Zeitschriften und Bücher über Architektur an. Ganz besonders haben es mir die Publikationen mit Home Plans angetan. Dieses Buch enthält 730 Pläne vom grössten Architekten-Netzwerk der USA. Das verspricht eine grosse Vielfalt an Plänen, und so ist es dann auch. Eine riesige Auswahl an Häusern wird geboten, von typisch amerikanischen, schwülstig-barocken Villen bis zu europäisch anmutenden Eigenheimen. Lediglich der im Südwesten der USA beliebte 'Santa Fe' Stil ist in dieser Sammlung nicht vertreten. Auch die zwischendurch eingestreuten Artikel zu verschiedenen Themen des Bauens und Gestaltens (wie, z.B. über Gartengestaltung, Bäder etc.) sind informativ und haben uns die eine oder andere Anregung gegeben. Das Buch macht einen qualitativ hochwertigen Eindruck. Es ist druchgängig auf festes Papier gedruckt und in Farbe. In diesem Sinne kann ich jedem Interessierten dieses Buch nur wärmstens empfehlen :)

It is a very good book. The print quality is top notch. An aspiring architect and a civil engineer will find it very useful.

I like this book a lot of excellent ideas to choose

For interior layout and design, this works really well! I tend to use the layouts, feeding them into a 3D program which help me a lout with diverse backgrounds in drawings in buildings. I like the exterior 3D part as well. While it only shows a couple of houses from the outside, I kind of appreciate this bonus
