This is why you should or should not ignore the bad reviews.
This is a learning stool, you have to learn how to use it for it to be effective. I have a super comfy desk chair that cost 300+, I have a semi comfy kneeling chair that cost 140+, and now I have this chair that cost what you see it as, and this is by far my favorite. I love it and I hate it, it forces me to strengthen my butt and lower back if I want a comfortable seating. This was invented for those who want to strengthen their bodies while sitting, not for those who want to be lazy and let their bodies go to waste while sitting. For the actual functionality of the chair itself, it exceeded my expectations based on the picture. It actually looks and functions in person better than I had expected. This is WHY I gave it 5 stars. The assembly is also easier than any other chair I have assembled before, it is literally 3 steps...

Stools are made for sitting, not standing
I have been outfitting my home office with an adjustable height workstation, specifically suited for me to stand up or sit down while working. When I saw this item by Learniture I was excited because it was far more affordable than some of the "perching stools" that I had looked at, as well as compact and versatile. The product arrived at my door a day earlier than projected and was packaged very nicely (efficiently and effectively) - thanks Learniture!Pros:- great, fast service/delivery- INCREDIBLY easy to assemble - no tools required and it can be done in less than two minutes (you will take about a minute to double-check that you have, in fact, done everything necessary).- very comfortable and sturdy - the seat is a rounded triangle with a SLIGHTLY concaved center. The base is heavy, but not unnecessarily so (the weight keeps you upright)- adjusting the height is smooth and simpleCons:- Initially, it was a little tough to get the seat to adjust at all. After I actually put weight on it, though, I haven't had an issue.- Although this is far from fragile I also don't anticipate it holding up to a lot of traffic. For instance, I probably wouldn't put this in a shared office space where multiple people use it casually (note: I ordered a vinyl seat, not leather).- I'm about 5'5" (65") tall and the standing height of my desk is currently comfortable at 43" (while standing on a 1" anti-fatigue mat). The maximum height of the stool is 27" so it doesn't really allow me to "perch" while standing. Granted, it doesn't say that is what it's for but I purchased it before erecting my adjustable desk so I wasn't aware of what kind of height I might need. It's not the greatest accessory for a stand-up desk (unless you're 5'3" and shorter ;-)), but it is still a solid, functional stool that is reasonably priced.I'm hoping that maybe there is an "extension set" that I might invest in!

Not Necessarily a Great Option for a Standing Desk AND Hard to Disassemble if Assembled Wrong
I have a Vari-Desk at work and after a year of popping it up and down when I got tired of standing and sitting, I finally decided to invest in an adjustable stool. I read (and re-read) the reviews and decide to purchase the Learniture Adjustable-Height Active Learning stool as I didn't want to pay almost double for a Vari-Desk stool. I've got mixed feelings about the stool - therefore the three stars.Cons:* The stool came with NO instructions as to how to assemble. I had to figure it out, and figured it out wrong at first.* Trying to dis-assemble the chair (to assemble it correctly) was a beast. Yes, it is as simple as taking it apart as it was put together *HOWEVER* there is a bit of a trick to it. I had to extend the stool to the full height and then pulled with even pressure on the seat while pushing on the base with my feet. The seat finally popped off after some effort. I was then able to assemble it properly.* A nice hunk of plastic broke off the base in shipment. Nothing some Gorilla Glue won't fix, but still irritating. :/* It doesn't extend as high as I would like. I can't quite pop the Vari-Desk up as high as I would like as the stool is too short. Note: I'm 5'5" so anyone taller than me probably out to look for another option before buying this stool.Pros:* The seat is comfortable enough for a break from standing.* The grey color fits in well with my office décor* It is easy to raise and lower. Once raised, if you sit on it and push the buttons underneath the seat, it will lower with no problem.* The price takes away a bit of the sting of the cons listed above...but only a bit.Knowing what I know now, I would spend the extra money and get the Vari-Desk stool. That being said, it's too big a hassle to return this item so I'm going to hang on to it. I thought I would share my experience however with others so that you don't have to learn the same things I just learned - the hard way - despite reading (and re-reading) reviews. Hope I've been able to help!

I'm in love!
LOVE LOVE LOVE. My kids and I use this everyday. I have recommended it to many people. Easy to adjust. Easy to move around. wobbles great and spins too. My kids work a lot longer while on here. I choose to use it for computer tasks, sewing tasks anything. It is really great! In the second picture my hand is in a little groove, this makes it sooo easy to carry one handed anywhere! I use it all the time! You can also see the buttons to raise and lower it.

the standing seat I never knew I needed.
I made a standing desk about 4 weeks ago; and half way through the day I would need a little sit down. My legs and back got tired. After some research, I chose this standing wobble chair to rest on.It came well packed and was easy to assemble. It is sturdy and comfortable for daily use. I have been using it daily for the last week and am very happy with this purchase.

Well made. Easy to assemble. Comfortable.
Arrived next day even in ‘lockdown’. Chair is well packaged in one large box. Easy to assemble with simple instructions - three parts that push-fit. Chair grips to carpet and tile flooring. Height variation very easy to use. I find it comfortable.

Fixed my back pain at last
Went through many chairs as I work on PC all day. This chair/stool allows you to move around and work your lower back. My back muscles where weak from dormant sitting now I can move around and work. If you dont like exercise this chair is not for you but I like the constant movement. This chair goes from sitting to standing quite easily so you can rest on it even in standing position. Some people says it hard but I think its ok. Remember this is for a adjustable standing and sitting desk.

Perfect for working at home
Perfect for working at home. I can stand easily when I have sat for too long, it is no more uncomfortable than sitting in a chair for too long. Love it and would recommend in comparison to other products and prices

Good quality, decent price, but uncomfortable for long periods.
I think this is basically the wobble at a price based closer to reality... however i think the design permits a lower price IMO, not sure how much shipping is costing from china, and then (likely) the US. The Base is great and economical, although it rubs off the rubber onto the floor as it moves around without a mat underneath. I feel secure tilting in all directions, and its fun to spin on. Nonetheless, the seat pad becomes very uncomfortable after some hours of sitting. There are some major pressure points on the sides of my Biceps Femoris area. This could easily become an economical split saddle stool and top the charts for comfort. I would, if I were in contact with the manufacturer, make that adjustment and only that adjustment.

Item was delivered quickly but the product was defective
We ordered this item a few days ago and received it yesterday. There are three parts to it - the base; the “stem” attachment that connects the base and seat; and the PVC leather seat. The seat is the part that’s defective - there is a black plastic piece that’s inside of the seat that fits around the top of the stem. This plastic part was completely bent and misshapen to the point that it wouldn’t fit. We tried to unfold it but that still didn’t help at all so all we have now is a wobbly stubby stool.

Great stool!
I am very happy with this stool. It has a good height range and works well for my 6th grader who is also happy with it and loves to turn and rock on it while doing homework. The seat is quite comfortable.Be wary, that as easy as it is to put together (only 3 pieces), I did have to use a mallet to attach the seat to the plastic piece underneath. ...it didn't just snap in like I thought it would. Otherwise, it is quite solid and seems to be well made.

Great for a kids desk chair
Bought this for a present for a 9yo tall child. She finds it way more comfy to sit on than a chair, and it helps her to get the wiggles out while working. Takes a bit of effort to get it to decrease in height as she's not too heavy, but it's working great.

Buen producto

Great Stool
I use this with a sit/stand desk. It can sit on the anti-fatigue floor mat no problem and is small enough to sit out of the way when I stand. It is also high enough to lean on it when I decide to when I am standing (I'm 5'9). Would buy it again!

Terrible
Too short for a standing desk. After about 2 minutes I thought my back was so twisted and jammed up in my spine I would have to go the chiropractor. Not happy...
