Powerful 1/2 inch magnet on a flexible metal whip that allows the user to attach a wire or cable and fish it through a wall.I installed some on wall speakers and this magnetic wire pull worked great with another super magnet I bought on Amazon.See the video of the wire pull whip being pulled along the top of a 1 inch thick hardwood table. 1/2 drywall was not an issue.for pulling power.There’s a couple of tricks to using this wire pull in an exterior, insulated wall. I bought a full Magnepull / Magnespot kit in 2010 to use pulling Ethernet cable for post-construction residential LANs. As long as you're working within a wood-framed structure it's a must-have tool for me. (I've never tried to use it in a steel-frame building so I have no idea how well it works there).After my unit first arrived I used it to add a second LAN drop in a bedroom wall in which I had previously fished the first drop without the Magnepull . The wall contained 4 different pipes running horizontally a few feet below the top plate. I had spent a good 15 minutes for that first drop in a swelteringly hot attic (August in Florida) using glow rods, fish chains, etc. trying to get the new Cat-5e to negotiate through the tight crossing space and drop through down to standard outlet device plate height. We had ultimately got that first drop done but my clothes were soaked and I was miserable and badly overheated.With our newly arrived Magnepull system, I set up the wire above the new hole in the top plate - securing the cable end to the Magnepull magnet leader, arranging about 6 feet of slack cable where it wouldn't hang up on anything, and dropped the magnet just inside the top plate angled towards the target wall. In the room below my partner just placed the Magnepull itself against the wall about a foot below the ceiling. We both immediately heard a "thunk" noise as the Magnepull handle's main magnet grabbed the magnet/leader and locked it against the wall. She then just guided the Magnepull down the wall and straight out the single-gang hole where the first drop had exited. No drama. No fuss.I had told her to wait to place the Magnepull against wall until I started timer on my watch to see how much slower or faster that completing the fish of this new drop would go with our new Magnepull toy. From the time I started the timer and told her to go ahead and touch the Magnepull handle piece to the wall until she pulled the magnet/leader and attached new wire out of the device hole took only 15 seconds. Wow.If you had told me during pulling the 1st drop as I described that if I just provided a credit card order for the full price of this tool I could have been on the way out of the attic in 15 seconds instead of 15 minutes of broiling in the attic I would have nearly broken my arm tying to get my wallet out as fast as possible.My 2010 tool version of this tool isn't perfect. Pulling cables through a heavily insulated exterior wall with my 12-year-old original Magnepull was ultimately successful but was sometimes a bit more of a struggle. Sometimes the insulation batts caused the magnet/leader/wire to get hung up and we'd have to do an extra try or two to get the cable all the way down around and/or through the insulation batt to the exit hole. I've since been told that since my 2010 model was made Magnepull is now shipping a stronger magnet in the handle unit to help with that type of fish. I would think that ought to help.Overall if you do much work pulling residential home alarm wires or network cables, I consider the time and effort this tool saves to be easily worth the money. Highly recommended!

Works good enough, but would have preferred a stronger magnet. I have plaster walls which are slightly thicker than drywall so a stronger magnet would have probably done the trick. It was still able to find studs after a few sweeps by it sticking to some of the nails, just not certain if it skipped over others due to thickness of wall.

Very strong magnet. Makes my life so much easier. Great quality. Cabling is SO much easier now.

This works pretty well. Although, we had to replace the original because it got stuck inside a steel studded wall in a commercial bldg. It git too close to a stud and I think slipped into one of the precut holes.

As an electrical contractor, I own several of these because these babies are indispensable

This worked great, well worth the money if your like me and always running wires, sure beats my old methods.
